oh - buggy walks - forgot those!! Wellington Regional Council organises them each month. Apart from the petrol to get there they are free.

There's also a lot of parks close to you, with buggy friendly paths.  Try Percy's reserve, Riddiford Gardens, the Hutt River Path, there's also Harcourt Park in Upper Hutt.  You can always join all the other mums in Queensgate seems to be lots there during the day.

Does the Dowse send out a newsletter with whats on?

I get one from our Te Manawa our local museum and the tourist information centre a lot of events are free.

most things like playgroups and music only run through the term so when the schools are on hols so too are the kids activities.

I was just told about a new website playdate with things to do with your children around NZ. It is just starting out so some areas are a bit thin on info but the more people that use it the more info they will have.

- I go to Mainly Music in town (Webb Street) so if you are central it may suit you - a pig to park if you are not central. It is $35 per term but the kids love it.
- Story Time at the different libraries is pretty good but Mack may be a little small yet.
-The Southern Cross it very child friendly during the day if you are after a good coffee.
- Once Mack is on the move there is Kindy gym in Lower Hutt and Porirua - $4 per session (and it is on a casual basis so no waiting list or commitment to a whole term).

you could join a playgroup, or mainly music or both. mainly music have a website.

check out your local library. a lot of them have a musical storytime.

There is also playcentre - not sure what age is best for them tho.

is there a source on the internet somewhere where i can find stuff to do with babies. ive been a SAHM for a week and my house is spotless, my study is up to date and i am bored out of my skull :( my son only sleep 2 hours during the day so i would like to find more things to do with him out of the house, we read stories twice a day, have lots of tummy time and crawling etc... he isnt allowed anywhere near a TV so im trying to find more things to do. i was thinking dowse / te papa / library / pool but i figure there must be a source out there somewhere with things to do for kids inc older kids. things like air shows, train shows, kids concerts etc... any help would be great :) also cheap which rules out things like gymbaroo etc..]]> Sun, 29 Nov 2009 20:26:51 +0000 https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=30213&PID=855374&title=where-to-find-events#855374
