nana - book of card making and a covered shopping list to put on her fridge
Step-mum - potted lavendar plant (she wants one, and I have one I was going to chuck)
dad - barbecue arpon (am making)
Lewis - duct tape wallet. he'll love it
Jake - Ninja turtle set, cape and mask (made), art set (made), brag book (made)
taine as above but Diego set
Nieces and nephews - cooking apron + cookbook (both made)
teachers - truffles and bath bombs (made)

We got both DH's grandparents book seats (both nearly 90) as they enjoy reading and this saves having to hold the books. We sell them at work so made it nice and easy . My grandad is probably getting a cheap bottle of gin (nearly 85)

T_Rex - are the grandparents in a home or independent living? My grandma's nearly 90 (in a home) and my grandad's still living independently. Grandma will be getting a pic of us with the baby, I'm thinking of getting Santa photos done to give away. Grandad will probably get a picture for his house and some chocolates

Depends where they live Jazzy, as to what will grow. Also how much space they have to plant it in, you might need to stick to something that won't grow enormous. I think Kowhai trees are nice, also fruit trees, walnuts, magnolias...

I've seen those ones online Kiwisj. They are very pretty, but yeah, you could get a much bigger tree for the same price in a nursery.

My brothers and I have a "nil all" policy - they don't buy for me, I don't buy for them. Works well, seeing as none of us are really *stuff* people.

A neat gift we received as a family as a kid was a plate wrapped in tinfoil, filled with all kinds of delicious homemade sweets. When we'd eaten the sweets, we unwrapped the *plate* to discover it was a frisbee. So it was part of the gift too.

I got Dad and his wife a native tree in a pot for Christmas last year so they could plant it at their new house. I bought it online (possibly through browniepoints.co.nz) coz we're overseas but you'd probably get a much better deal through a local nursery!!! We only buy for a few & have cut the kids pressies down.

MIL & FIL, are getting a digital photo key ring (they are going o/s next yr for several months so we will load it with lots of pic of the kids so they can show the relies.

Everyone one else is getting either homemade cookies or sweets.

Only buying for 2 littlies in the family as we are spending xmas with them & we always buy for them & they for our kids. DH is getting newspaper subscription this year, I'll probably get him a bag of cherry ripes or some crunchie bars from the Aussie shop as well.

I like the family pressie idea of games ... might do that for SIL's family this year and a couple of matchbox cars for the boys to open since we post pressies to them.

MIL/FIL and my parents/stepparents get joint pressies from us usually too, mostly coz it's too hard to think of that many things to send home!!! Money is tight this year we are doing joint presents, to our parents. I don't buy for SIL or Bro only their kids. 

I'm making fudge, choc chip cookies and marmalade / lemon curd.

Dh is the only one being brought for.

Nieces are 8 and 13, 13 year old will get vouchers for Diva or Equip, 8 year old will get activity books and/or stationery I don't spend more than $20 each on them.

How bout making something for MIL FIL etc, some nice shortbread or jam or relish, or fudge or truffles or something like that? That way you can make a bigish batch and it should stretch out over a few people.

I second what Bizzy said about family pressies (esp bro, gf and kid and mil fil) like a game.

Photo calenders a a goodie. you can get "kits" at warehouse stationary, about $12ish and they were just on the counter at the copy centre there, some print shops like SDP do laminated photos or drawings onto a calender.

Warehouse have cheap DVDs often, about $10

For the boys how bout a pop up tent and some sleeping bags?

You could do family presents instead of individual ones.

put some biscuits, a game, chrissie cake.

i am getting my husband a magazine subscription this year - its for a photo mag.

kids maybe you could get them some water pistols... that would amuse them on the day. i usually get my nieces some jewellery and hair stuff from the $2 shop and lip gloss - always a hit with young girls.

so the only reason we can afford christmas presents this year is because I was a chrisco distributer so get about $400 back
so I need gifts for
mil, fil, sil, bil, mum, hubby, bailey, aidan, brother, his bit, her 2 kids (cause she has already brought for my boys even though I said not too) and my neice
