From memory, it's ferritin that should be 20 or over and haemoglobin should be 120 or over.]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=18232">Shezamumof3</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 30253<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 02 December 2009 at 8:32am<br /><br />Spatone is good if you don't already have low iron, if your iron is low then you need proper iron pills.<br /><br />I know this because I ended up is hospital at 36 weeks having an iron infusion <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0"> That was nasty!<br />Anyways the hospital Dr asked me what  i was taking and I said Spatone, and she told me that Spatone doesn't have enough Iron in it if you already have low iron but its great for keeping your iron levels at a good level if they are already good.<br /><br />Iron meds suck and they can cause constipation, but you dont want to end up with an iron infusion trust me, yuck!<br /><br />ETA- My iron levels were at 80 when I was admitted to hospital.<br /><br /><img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0"> <span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by Sheza</span>]]>

When pregnant with DS I specifically asked the MW which supplements were the gentlest as constipation was already an issue and I didn't want to make it worse. When I was pg mine dipped just below the normal line and I was prescribed supplements - which made me feel really sick - so my MW recommended taking them every 2nd day rather than every day... Try <a href=""http://www.healthpost.co.nz"" target="_blank">Healthpost</a> as I found they were the cheapest. Never had any constipation problems with it either.]]>
