Ok my computer has decided to stop working so haven't been on at all lately!! (Getting withdrawal symptoms)

Anyway - Arna has been in a Touchwood Cot since about 8 weeks old... is 2 years now (converted bed) and is about 3/4 the way down the bed - have it as a couch at the moment as we had people staying with a little one so gave them the cot and put Arna in a bed and haven't put it back yet. So in short we have used all 3 uses for it and will last us for years to come !!

Like everything you have your own opinions for what suits you best...

I have to say Janine that is a small room!! well, after weighing up pros and cons i got mike into baby factory with me today and he decided he liked one of the genesis convertible cots they have there, so it is now on layby. and it came with a free inner-sprung mattress. but hey for $699 i would hope so!! He didn't realise it cost that much, he thought it was $499, cos they all had signs on the front saying "buy any cot over $499 and get a free inner sprung mattress" he didn't read properly, only saw $499. wasn't till we were talking later cos i had liked a different one but he wrangled me into liking the one we got (which i think was dearer) that i said about picking the most expensive, and he goes "what, i thought they were all $499. "   silly man.

I've seen toddler beds like that on there a few times. I just got 0.8 cubic meters shipped from Wellington to Gisborne and it cost $125 incl. we just took xanthe out of her converted cot bed last month, into a big bed - we finally noticed that she didnt have any room any more :) Being in the big bed has meant she sleeps much better, and keeps the covers on her instead of them all coming off all the time.
it really depends on how tall ayja is, as to how comfortable she will be for a while yet - you dont want to buy one that will only last months!

hhm the wardrobes in the bedrooms are tiny too, otherwise i would.

Nikki that toddler bed looks kewl but sadly it's pick up only..

And yep the room is tiny, well, i think it is.

Has she got a single wardrobe? or double. I put the new babys dresser in the wardrobe to give more space as the cot takes up some much room and there is already a huge spare bed in their as well.

We've bought one and I've heard them recommended. Yeah, I'd go for it. I haven't used it myself but I know my friend's little boy was in his until just a few months ago (aged 2 and a bit), was only moved out of that because his little sister came along.

I used the 'convert to' bed function of the cot with Sean when he was 2 and he stayed in it until he was 4...it was great (and he wasn't that tall). It's a good option because his bedroom was pretty small and it was the right height for him to hop into. You can also use them as a little couch when your done with it as a bed. I'd recommend them.

yeah imean i loved that Paris was in a bed at 11 months and i found it was easier than trying to get her used to one later on when everyone else was trying to get their kids the same age to stay in their new bed. but, her room to be blunt with the door in the bottom Left hand corner of the room - facing forward, if we stuck a single bed along that wall straight ahead, we would have to have the door half closed for it to fit, the wall thats straight ahead is a cold outside one so i don't want to put the bed along there, and the next one, is under large windows, also cold and the bed would be in front of the wardrobe....   so yeah, a touchwood would save room for now - until she's a little older and could maybe handle sleeping near one of the other walls - i mean littlies just get cold so easy. argh, i dunno, mike said we could move ayja's dresser into our room, but that would crowd our room and would mean that well - i don't want it to stay there forever.. we only just got HER out of our room...

I have a Touchwood Cot and to be honest we never used the "covert to" bed come couch option as it really was not that big and Paige grew really fast anyway. We put her straight in a bed.

But then you'd have to buy another bed later when she grows too long.. I know I was in a bed really early on, as my mum had to give my cot back.. could you buy a bed with a guard rail on the side or do you think she'd be way too small for a bed?

AS most of you know, miss ayja is in a portacot which suited paris just fine till 11 months and then we stuck her in a big double bed.

Ayja is now getting too big for the portacot, but the prob is her room is so small that really, if we stuck even a single bed in there we would have very few choiuces as to the set out and it would take up most of the room. so i thought maybe we would buy a touchwood cot and just have it converted to the junior bed - to save a bit of space but still give her a bit more of a grown up bed.


So had anyone tried these or have them and are they worth the $$$ - i mean a single bed would cost as much once you buy the matress etc so the cot would save space. but how long did your kiddies fit them, Ayja isn't huge but she isn't too short either..
