Because every time there is a power cut over here our water goes off for longer than the power does.<br /><br />That big storm that we had a few years back resulted in us having no hot water for 4 days even though our power was only out for a few hours.]]>

Well I rang the power co and they are sending someone over so hopefully it won't cost but the most we will have to pay is the $50 call out so not too bad. <br /><br />Mum2Ella - we had a power cut on Weds too so maybe it is to do with that? Although we did already fiddle with turning off and on etc... <br /><br />Flake we are just on an anytime plan :) ]]>

The power companies only control your hot water in some situations, and it's very rarely noticeable, but a powercut certainly could effect the heating of it. <br /><br />You could ring your power comany, and they may send someone out to look at it, but if nothing is wrong, they'll redirect you to a plumber/electrician and charge you a callout fee. Catch 22 :(]]>

(Although they never admit to it). DP is a plumber and he often tells people to ring them first and ask about it (even though they normally say on no it's not us) then wait a few hours and see if it is getting hotter. Saves paying someone to come out and check it for nothing.]]>

I spent most of the day playing around with it and in the end I think it was turning off the main power switch and then turning it back on again that did the trick- didn't discover this until later in the afternoon which meant we had no hot water until Thurs morning (spent the night at my parents). </P><P align=left>&nbsp;</P><P align=left>Hope that helps</P>]]>
