Congrats and welcome to OB! You might find this thread helpful, it's a similar question that was asked recently

How quickly you need to find a midwife depends on where you are in NZ but in lots of places you do need to start looking straight away. You may like to go to your doc to confirm and get first blood test etc but you don't have to. Hope that helps

FYI there's also a thread listing some common abbrieviations etc and questions often asked in the community here which you might find useful as a newbie

Hello,
i have just taken a home preg test have got a positive!!! wow very excited wasnt planned but will embrace it .. have done an online date caculator and look to be 5 - 6 weeks! we havnt told any 1 and don't want to till after the scan etc. but we don't know what to do now? do we ring our doctor to organize scan or do i find a midwife??
