Only once has she slept from 7pm, but we live in hope and as some of the more experienced Mums put it I just tell myself that this is such a short period of time, so just relax (but sometimes I want to scream and cry, and SLEEP)...after the last feed (I try not to feed after 11pm, she is DH's 'problem' and he has to get her down, as I know I'll be up to feed her sooner or later).

I cannot wait for the 12 hour sleeps - 7 til 7 sounds AMAZING....it's not that far away...I hope!

We gave up putting her to bed and trying to settle her and now I just sit with her on my lap with the dummy or DH wanders around the house with her crying until she has that final feed and crashes.
Nice to know it will get better too. Cam will not go down before 8pm, if I try, he is awake within 20 mins crying and grizzling. I know he is tired, he looks shattered but he is up again, feeding (again) and until that magic number hits the clock, thats what we do.

I spoke to plunket about it and they said its normal but that after 3 months things should start to settle (we have no routine either plus he is demand fed, sometimes every 2 hourly during the day). It does make for a long evening though, especially when you are tired and gagging to climb into bed too!

I wish we had My Sky. Then I wouldn't miss my programmes too. Ben was the same as well when he was younger. He wouldn't settle to sleep and would pretty much feed non-stop from 6-9pm. I gave up sitting alone in our room trying to settle him. I just fed him on the couch while I watched telly and ordered DH to get me a cuppa! I can't remember when I started trying to get him down at an earlier bedtime, maybe 12wks or so and since then it has worked. It won't last for ever.

She sleeps great during the day, settles herself or if she has a bit of trouble she soon drifts off with a dummy. We follow a routine of feed/play/sleep and then night time routine is feed/bath/bed at 7pm. However this is extremely short lived and is soon awake and crying. She is obviously tired but nothing will settle her, not even the dummy! She cluster feeds during this period and then eventually just crashes at about 9:30/10pm as she's just so exhausted.

This makes for a really long day as I'm up once during the night and then early in the morning and our whole evening is spent just trying to settle her. I realise this is quite common, but what can we do to encourage her to make bedtime 7pm? I just really need reassurance that this will not last forever and I will eventually get to watch all my favourite programmes in peace and for me and DH to have some quality time again!!

Would love to hear of others who have had the same problem and what you did to resolve it etc etc .
