that is terrible treatment, and i would be changing asap - you need someone to be supportive, and if they dont get back to you, they are of no use!!!

Tastic, aside from being high risk, it is common courtesy to return a phone call within a reasonable timeframe. I would be horrified if I was in your position. You are not getting the treatment you deserve, so I would defo be looking at the hospital mw's.

i was with a high risk team thru the hospital with my first and second pregnancies and i was with the high risk team the whole way through. HB - how horrible for your friend I really hope she doesn't get dropped like I did. because her baby ended up dieing she will most probably be classed as highrisk for her entire pregnancy

Aidan was born at 26w 5d and once I got past that I was no longer classed as high risk but get this. I had the 2 infections that I did which caused Aidans early arrival (strepB and ureaplasma) they didnt even do any tests or anything to make sure they had gone away. the OB I seen at the time was just a fillin so said yeah because Im past his gestation Im not highrisk now.
Ive been in hospital twice since then and both times the register has been highly upset that Im not being seen my an OB or more regularly from the mw
Like I say, I just feel on the back burner. Left to it . (and I even had the comment made that because Ive had two labours Id know whats going on!)

no decisions yet as have slept most the afternoon!

My friend who had a 28 weeker the first time around, was considered HR for both pregnancys after that, even when her 2nd preg went full term.

BUT your midwife should have passed over her pager/cellphone to her backup if she was on holiday!

I presume Trish's high risk ended at 27wks as that's when her prem boy was born previously HB. It would be different for every high risk mum due to their particular situation HB.

Sorry a little bit off topic... But is that the same as everyone who is high risk? Once your past that stage your no longer high risk?

Just asking as (HORRIBLE story to follow!!!!!!!!) my friend lost baby at 24 weeks due to a virus, which shes now immune to. She talks about trying and how she is under the high risk team and will be getting checked weekly from ttc right up until birth.... Nope not at all! I think the way you've been treated is terrible! If I've contacted my MWs they both contact me as soon as they can even if I've said its nothing urgent.

I think it's shocking not to get a reply, especially by now! Grrr. I've not really been classed as high risk either but my MW still contacted me ASAP whenever I texted or called her with concerns and I couldn't get hold of her straight away.

I don't think you are being unreasonable at all. Not very professional of your midwife either. I hope they would be a bit more prompt if it was an emergency

ETA : I have never been classes as high risk but I would be very annoyed if I couldn't contact my MW and she didn't bother to phone back.

Hi Tastic, so sorry to hear you are having such a tough time with your midwife/s. Whatever concerns you have you should be able to call them anytime and have them contact you back as soon as they can. I think it is really unacceptable that no-one has got back to you yet! I would say that if you are not 100% happy then look into another midwife.

With my first child I changed my midwife when I was 38 weeks. I felt like she wasn't worried about my concerns and just brushed things away when I asked.   I got a hospital midwife and she was just FANTASTIC. My new midwife even called my old midwife to tell her I wouldn't be needing her anymore e.t.c because I didn't feel confident ringing her. I felt like in the 3 weeks (went overdue) I got to know the new midwife I felt a better bond then I did with the old midwife.

I think if you have any bad feelings towards your midwife you need to sort it out because you need to feel 100% supported and trust your midwife.

I agree maybe changing midwives would be a good idea (I have no experience with the hospital midwives sorry).

I went thru the hospital team with my first two pregnancies and they were fab! A much better experience than the independent mw i had thats for sure!

Am I wrong to be really pissed off at my Midwife/s?
I was admitted to hospital for 5 days on the 27th December. I got out the 31st. since then I've had no contact from the midwife - who I later found out is on holiday but she never said anything to me when she saw me on the Sunday!
I've since then been texting and also rang a couple of times the back up midwife.WITH NOT A WORD! the hospital wanted me to been seen by my midwife within a few days of being discharged!
I was supposed to have an appointment this morning which I had to text and cancel and still nothing
you think it would be nice to at least flippen reply!
ARGH! since I turned 27 weeks I'm no longer classed as high risk so they just don't give a sh*t!

am I wrong for feeling like they really don't care? for feeling like I'm on the back burner so to speak?
