BUT.... DON"T be scared or embarassed to get it checked out if you are really worried and haven't felt bub move for a while and he doesn't start after trying all the tricks.
I know it sounds morbid but I have had a few friends/acquantinces lose or almost lose their babies in the past year and early monitoring/detection could have saved them. Don't want to scare anyone but noone talks about these things and it should be talked about. I had the same thing when pregnant with Zac and was worried and my Dr said to go and lie down in a quiet room and try to relax and count the movements like the others have said. I have an anterior placenta too and I hardly ever feel movement unless it is a full on boot - I dont get any soft movements.
Actually it's funny you should say that cos the past week my bubs has been really really quiet, I have been lying down at night nervously hoping for a kick, and gotten very little action - and just this morning she started doing some sort of gymnastics in my tummy - kicking and jumping and doing who knows what - it hasnt stopped! Funny how you can have a really quiet week and then POW! The kicking starts and it just goes and goes...I am sure yours is the same as mine, just getting lots of sleep and maybe gets stuck in a funny position where it is hard to move for a few days and then once they get out of it they have a little party in there...

I've heard they do go quiet during growth spurts as well. Perhaps he's packing on a bit at the moment?
My little maternity care plan book says less than 10 movements in 12 hours is cause for concern. Maybe you could do a little movement tally to track how much he's actually moving about?
Definitely call your midwife if you don't feel reassured soon. As others have said...something cold to drink...or eat something sugary (that works for me)....lie down and count the movements. 10 in one hour is fine. If you don't get 10 in the hour...start over. This was the best test I've read about in several places.

If that fails then you should give your midwife a call. You'll probably be surprised though how quickly you reach 10 movements even with a quiet bubba!

He might just be a quiet baby?? Just lying there relaxed instead of booting you to bits.

If you want to get him moving, do the usual trick of drinking some ice cold water. That wakes them up a bit! ive been having heaps more movement lately myself... full on pokes and prods.

in my other pregancies i gave my midwife a call and she'd suggest the usual things ie: something sweet, a hot or cold drink etc.... and if that failed arrange a time for a monitor of baby's heart and movement at the hospital. i went a few times to be monitored and it seemed as soon as i was hooked up to the machine baby would start to wriggle around, must like their own heart beat?!!!!

if you havent felt much more movement even just for peice of mind give your midwife a call....

Yer Ella has quiet days and very active painful days and lately coz shes so much bigger so has less room to move, if u are concerned call ur midwife thats what shes good for and remember that everyone has a different pregnancy so what happens to others may not happen to you.

Hey ,

I know i have posted a topic like this be4 and many others have too but I just wanted to be reassured again and see if anyone else out there has this problem...

Im 32 weeks and The last two days Jaxon has been very quiet. My friends say their baby does not stop moving and wished they would stop. Im like well whats wrong with my little boy. Hes been fine at checkups with midwives and the last appointment was only last week. I do have an anterior placenta but so does Kelly ( kelpa) and she gets booted all the time by her little man.

My partner and I prodded him the other night trying to get him to move but no luck. Then I finally got one small kick and then I was able to get to sleep, a bit relieved.

At the moment I am sitting here and listening to my partners demo cd loudly hoping Jaxon will hear his daddy singing and move. Got one movement but thats all. Come on little man kick mummy!

usually Ive had heaps of movement after I wake in the morning and even now he usually goes crazy while I type. Anyone else have a quiet baby???
