I just thought I'd pop in and say hi - I think it has been around 20 months since I last posted, about a month after popping 5 weeks early with Dylan.

Dylan has done really well considering his rough start to life. He has gone from strength to strength and his only real issues were that he was about 6 weeks behind on milestones and had a severe squint which had to be surgically corrected when he was a year old.

How did everyone who chose to vax find the 15 month jabs (am guessing most will have had them by now...)? J was fine - but this time knew that it was the nurse who had hurt him and was not keen to let her check the injection sites before we left. Haha Lulu - my DS is a shocker too. GOod sleeper but man into everything. He can now reach the door handles and today locked himself in the bathroom (closed door and then turned the lock)! Lucky it was our upstairs one which has an external window that was slightly open and I could climb through. Liv had a shocker last night, awake at 1.30am, fine, give her a bottle then, but then again at 4am, and wouldn't go back down, so put her in with us, fell asleep for an hour, then awake again. Put her back to her bed at this stage, she grizzled a little but went off to sleep, but awake again an hour later, so DH got up with her. I put her down for a nap at 9am so am hoping she has 2.5hrs and wakes in a good mood. Lol la it was a marriage help book not a baby book lol:) baby proofing your marriage. Never did finish reading it:)! Fletch is just sooooooo full on. I cannot Imagine having another. Honestly I would rather top myself that's how hard it is to look after him somedays! Lol not planning on doing anything of a sort I am just trying to get across how anti having another baby I still feel lol! A baby that is a bad sleeper and into everything really tests your patience! Seriously I can't even kidi lock him out of a cupboard! and I am back to up 3 times a night at least. Sigh.

I'm so bad at checking in here. Am now back at work full time. Lucky for me DH is home now after 4 months away so I'm getting a little bit of time to myself. I think I should have gone back part time until he got home. Getting up at 5.30 am working a full day, picking J up from daycare/cooking dinner and getting him to bed and then doing all the housework - stupid! I was up at 5.30 and bed around 11 - plus on top first trimester tired/sleepy made it not very fun. Love being a mum to bits though so if this is what it takes I will just be tired in the short term lol.

oh you girls i dont know how you are doing it!! lol:) i had a weak moment and thought about trying again last month and then got scared we had been successful lol! i really want a big gap. well thats my thoughts this week anyway. i cahnge my tune all the time.

Well I am now able to walk without crutches!!! After 2+ weeks not doing much but hobbling around it feels like bliss :-) Truely missed looking after Paige, its weird becasue I still got to do alot of play and cuddling but actually missed all the little moments of picking her up, feeding her and "shock horror" changing nappies!

Back to pretty much normal now, although still have a thigh to ankle brace on and LOTS of physio to go but at least I can walk around

big news here, is that we have (or are...lol) transitioning Paige to a montessori floor bed (Linky). While I have been laid up, her night time sleep went out the window to the point that she screamed and screamed when you tried to put her in her cot. So while goggling about how to get her to sleep in her cot again, I came across this. After lots of investigation and reading I decided we had nothing to lose...lol!

We are onto day 2 now. First day, her afternoon sleep was non-exisent (she played instead) but went straight to sleep at night. woke twice in the night and when I went in found her just off her mattress. popped her back onto the bed, gave her a quick back rub and she settled right away. woke at 6am with a bit of a cry but no different from normal wake up.

Day 2 (today) - afternoon sleep, she went straight to sleep after a book and a bit of a cuddle. And tonight, to my amazement, she crawled off her bed when I left the room, had a bit of a play (about 5-10mins) and when I went back to check on her, she had crawled back to her mattress and put herself to sleep!!!

A bit out there but so far seems to be working heres hoping it continues!

Well after mossy waking at 530am have decided he needs to transition to 1 sleep a day so with daycares help that's what we have been doing although yesterday I thought he was ready for bed at 615 which he wasn't. Anyway he went to sleep at about 630 and woke this morning at 530 again. Looks like the one sleep a day thing is what he needs just need to extend his going to bed time so he doesn't wake so early.

Man I forgot how hard this been pregnant thing is, I now know this is my last definitely couldn't do this again. SB - but even 7:30pm to 6:30am is bloody marvellous in my books. DS is down to one 2-hour sleep per day, yet always wakes at least once overnight (often 3:30-4) before we get up at 6:30am to get ready for work/creche.

Ooo Seb got a parcel in the mail today, actually 2.
1 = Birthday present, 3 weeks late.
2 = Christmas present, 8 weeks early

I allowed Olivia to somewhat feed herself lunch today. It was mac n cheese (the first time i've tried her with that) and I loaded her spoon up and she knew exactly what to do with it lol. Yeah SB, it has been hard not looking after Paige. Funny, cause I knew in my head that I would have crutches and that it would be weeks til I could look after her myself agian, but knowing it and actually not being able to pick her up are two different things! I miss her :-(

was total non weight bearing for the first 10 days and have just been allowed to put a little weight on my leg while using crutches the last 3 days! Hopefully will be free of crutches by this time next week!

Night times are soooooo much better. With just the one day sleep we now have her in bed by 7/7.30pm asleep, and she is just waking the once for a bottle. It is bliss.

Not sure when the house will be livable enough, still need the plumbers to come back and hook everything up, as well as the electrician. Also need to install the kitchen, so still ALOT of work to be done. We re also on 2 day sleeps 9am to 1030 and then 2 to 330 which is simply heaven!! Hope he keeps it up till new bubba arrives! But recently his nights are starting to suffer ie he is in bed by 645 but will clown around till 730 then up at 6-630am... So am thinking maybe reducing one of those naps to 45mins?? Ideas please?;)

How much longer till your house is livable sharee?? Sounds like you need to get out of there ASAP eh?

How long till you re off crutches Sophie? That must be tough not being Able to look after Paige;(

We are still very much a 2 day sleep household here. Paige can't get past about 10:30 without having a sleep so no way she would make it to 12. I'm still happy with 2 sleeps though :-)

Our night sleeps are all crap at the moment! Ever since she got sick (infected eczema) the night before my knee surgery she has refused to sleep in her cot!! After about 30mins of crying she will initally go to sleep there at 7pm but by midnight she wakes and screams and screams until DH brings her into bed with us, where she promptly goes to sleep straight away. not a horrible situation and one that I can live with for the moment (Mum is staying and I cant get up to her at night due to surgery) but am dreading a couple of weeks when we need to tackle that.

At the moment I am putting it down to me not being able to take care of her (am on crutches due to surgery) and so its been my mum and DH who have been getting up to her, teeth and who knows what else...

I would prefer he went to bed earlier as in 6-630. Which I think he will eventually. My older boys didn't go bed at 7 until they were 6, so I'd like to get mossy back to there at some stage. Another successful night of bed at 7pm no fuss. She had a 2hr sleep at midday. It's so weird having my evenings back! Liv wasn't ready either Dneyn, but she has been doing suprisingly well the past two days. She woke up twice overnight for a bottle, then for the day at 7.30am. My schedule is a little different, mossy is up between 6-630am, then goes back down between 9-930, we can't get him past then he is a cranky pants otherwise. He sleeps between an hour to two. Then lunch around 1130, and he has another nap at 330-4 otherwise it would be bed at 5, he goes to bed between 630-7.

Yep LA very similar to keb, If I were you I'd wake her by 7-7.30, down again around 12-12.30 depending on how she is coping. We do lunch early around 11.30 cause both my girls are the same as me and are snackers plus I've had to get DD1 to kindy.... Sleep til 2-2.30 pm so about 2 hours, again I've had to keep to this cause of kindy. Then she is well ready for bed at 7.... Now days I let her sleep til whenever in the morning, unless I need to get out the door, which this term will change as DD 1 will be in kindy for full days...

Does that help?? I think Novmum and I are pretty similar with the sleep thing. We are just moving to a one day sleep this week. But Alex is usually in bed at 6:45pm and gets up around 7am, if hes still asleep at 7:20am we get him up because we have a schedule to keep in the morn. It's hard with the inlaws as we are still living with them. Success with getting her down earlier tonight though, 7.15pm!! She just had the one sleep from 1-2.30pm but that was helped by the fact that she slept until late so could stay up to that time. It will be interesting to see what happens overnight (for example, if she wakes around 9/9.30pm and thinks it's time to party), and to see what time she wakes in the morning. If you wake your girls at 7am what time do they go down for their sleep? Can you give me the schedule that you have them on please? Oh what a helpful mil you have .... With both my girls I always woke them at 7 am, regardless of what happened overnight, at this age they both only had/have one sleep, bed at 7, now days I leave Dd2 to sleep as late as she likes in the mornings... We had her going down around 7pm, then daylight savings hit and it made it 8pm, and since then she has just bumped it further and further back. I'm trying to just get one sleep from her now so she will be tired earlier, but outside of that I have no idea what to do. Mothercraft wont take us now either as we're over 1yr, but i'm tempted to ask. Otherwise when we go to my parents in a couple of weeks I could try the CIO thing then, but she literally screams so loudly and persistently that it doesn't work. Something definitely needs to change though. Yesterday was fail for us, Liv just had the one sleep but I still couldn't get her to bed before 9.30pm! I don't know what is up with this kid. LA - during the day, if I kept offering the BF he'd definitely take it, but if I don't offer he doesn't ask and if he does ask on the odd occasion I offer him a drink of water or milk...he usually has a few sips and then he's off again. He has a big drink of milk in the morning with his breakfast, yoghurt and cheese during the day and plenty of water so I think he's doing ok.
Tonight he was so so tired that he only had a half-feed before bed...going to be interesting how that works out! We've gone down to 1 sleep too most days. Some days he needs 2 but usually just the 1 at around 1230pm and it's usually about 1-1.5hrs. He's never been much of a sleeper during the day anyway.

We're almost a full time walker now...still does some crawling (for speed) but is enjoying walking from thing to thing, up to about 3m on his own.
We're also almost totally weaned - just the one BF before bed. DP is getting up to him in the night to try and break his cycle of waking at 3am for a feed. So far so good...although I imagine it'll be a case of 2 steps forward 1 step back for a wee while though.

Olivia now has a runny nose :( have no idea why or how as none of us are sick, but she is happy enough, so lets hope it comes to nothing.

We are also dropping down to one sleep as of today, it is so hard to get her to bed before 9.30pm and i'm over it, I want to be going to bed before then lol. The timing is perfect too as she had a sleep in this morning so she will have more of a mid day sleep. Whoop Whoop! Paige is ONE!! Finally....lol feels like we have been waiting all month!

wow strange to think this time last year I was in labour, 24 hours in and about to get an epidural and syntocyn...this year, I have my knee in a major brace, no weight bearing and cruthes! heres hoping next year is normal

hopefully Liv will learn to like the cows milk when mixed with formula LA. I'm going to start doing the 1/3 cows milk to 2/3 formula, only problem is that I forget and just put the 200ml of water in and then heat it up- could always tip that out I guess lol.

Just ordered two size 2 singlets from nature baby, we had the size 1 ones, so doesn't matter that they're not button up. She hasn't been able to wear bodysuits etc for months now.

I am also getting DD MMR done at 12 months, and DS's booster done this week instead of waiting till he is four. One kid has measels at our local school and I am terrified that someone at his kindy will get it. DD is there with me when I drop him off and pick him up, playing with their toys and other kids...so I am nervous.

LA, hope you feel better soon. With the button singlets, I get teeny weeny ones from farmers that are super stretchy cotton - they have sooooo much give in them, DS is still in his size twos and he is almost 100cm tall and wears size 3-4 in all his other clothes.

We are still doing 3-4 bottles, but 1/3 cow's milk and 2/3 formula. I'll do it the other way round next week,and then just straight milk. Juane, that 30 day booster is for the chicken pox vaccine if you choose to do that, not the measles.

The reason they are bringing MMR forward is because of the outbreak of measles in the Auckland and Waikato regions, it's not anything to do with it being more effective.

Our rabbit Hazel died DP is DEPRESSED. He is a full-on animal-lover. MUCH softer on the animals than he is on me or DS. He is just sitting outside staring into space for what seems like the longest time. I think I heard something about having to have another booster or something 30 days later, but I could be wrong. My brain is mush at the moment and memory failing me!

I sometimes feel a bit guilty that DS enjoys playing alone so much! Feel like I should be involved and doing something with him all the time, but he is totally happy with his own company. From what I understand is that the reason they moved it to 15 months was to make it more effective, so you get 90 / protection. Then full protection once they have the second one at age 4. Congrats BF!

I'm so impressed with how many are having another one already, my two are keeping me so busy at the moment I can't even imagine putting another in the mix!

As for cows milk, I've been slowly upping the ratio of cows milk/formula with the two milk feeds DD still has, shes been fine with it, at roughly 1/4 formula to 3/4 milk now

ETA oh and nope haven't seen plunket in ages, but did get DD weighed yest as I decided to bring her first MMR jab forward, which will no doubt be a controversial decision, but given her very small size, having an older sis at kindy and measles outbreak her gp and I decided it was best

I gave J some milk today (maybe 20-30 ml) cause i was drinking some and he WANTED and kept squealing. Not interested really once he got it (most of it went on the bib) - guess he likes BF better...

Oh and errr ummm had to get a new ticker (told DH on the phone tonight). I adjusted to the idea pretty quickly - we weren't meant to be trying for another couple of months as I go back to work in about 10 days - gee that's going to be an interesting conversation with the boss.... DH is going to sleep on it - he was pretty stunned - everything must have lined up perfectly since I have only seen him for two weeks in the last 2.5 months! I've only had one AF (thanks BF!) and hopefully won't be seeing another one for a while now.

Have appt with Dr tomorrow to see if we need bloods or anything as I have only had about 6 weeks of folic acid so far since we weren't trying yet. I thought I had another 2 months until DH gets home - that was one expensive holdiay lol.

*lurking* click on the wrong due group but seems to have the tpoic of my question.
anyone given cows milk and the baby/todler (whatever they are called hahha ) be sick we gave P 60mls and she woke a couple of tims that night rubbing her tummy then threw up the next morning? its the only thing i can put it down to .. she was on a organic formula from 9months old then that was discontinuted so been on a soy one for the last 4 weeks? I don't want to offer again .. but seems alot cheaper!! tho what do you do in summer when out in about ym girls a sept bub but still has 3 bottles a day ..
And while i'm here size 0 isn't tenny caliandjack my girls still wearing 6-12 months and shes not tiny , but i guess it depends where you shop i mostly stick to pp cos they have consistent sizing .. farmers size is way wrong i tryed a pair of her 3-6montsh shorts on her i brought for last summer and they are still to big! I'm starting to buy 12-18mnths now or size 1. still wearing a boby suit (dome up singlet) everyday too .. mostly so she can't get her nappy off!

At home we are frequently down to a t-shirt and a nappy - C is teeny tiny size 0 are still huge on her, she is getting taller her pants/leggings are getting shorter at least we're going into summer so it doesn't matter.

Making shopping in the summer sales a bit frustrating as I don't know what size to get.

Liv hasn't been in singlets that dome up for ages, grew out of them long ago lol. I like the idea of the holey ones though, I know exactly what you're talking about. I do miss them doing up like that though, i'm forever tucking in her singlet to keep her back covered. Logan hasn't weaned...we're just slowly reducing the amount of BF - he's less interested during the day and I'm wanting to wean to get my fertility back but don't want to go cold turkey, just want it to be a gradual thing that isn't stressful for either of us. Just commit to BF LA and I'm sure you'll be fine. Set yourself some short term goals and just remember that the first 6-8 weeks are not fun or easy so if you can get through that you can pretty much do anything!
Can you do a 50:50 formula/cows milk so she gets used to the taste? Or less and gradually increase it until it's 100% cows milk? Must be a lot cheaper than formula?

In terms of clothes...I'll probably keep putting DS in singlets just because I like that they do up under the bum. TnT do some nice hole-y sleeveless ones that I got last year and will probably do the same this year. He doesn't have a single on today, just a long sleeved t-shirt and light demin overalls...it's pretty muggy here today though. No not weaning at all, she has yoghurt or custard every day not worried about her calcium. I'd prefer to continue with water with her meals its easier to transport a bottle of water where ever we go.

What is everyone dressing their babies in these days? Most days we are in some form of pants/leggings, a long sleeve top, and a singlet. If we head out then I will take a jumper but inside she rarely needs one. She often has socks and bobux on as well, though if it's particularly warm bare feet. Last week when it was sunny we were down to a t-shirt and leggings with a singlet. Lulu, while Fletch may be down on the charts, have his stats been consistent? Perhaps this is why they are not worried? Maybe we still have regular appointments due to Liv's reflux still being an issue? I just started giving a sippy cup of milk with breakfast and we dropped the morning feed. DS isn't having many BF during the day anymore but he has yoghurt and cheese etc and a BF in the afternoon and before bed. Hey everyone

Well am back from having knee surgery, spent last night in hospital (was lovely to sleep all day lol) but am already getting bored and tired of sitting with my leg up! Luckily my parents arrive today for a week, as there is no way I could look after paige at the moment, not sure if how I will cope in a week to be fair

Poor Paige has had her own issues (great timing hehe, now DH has 2 girls to look after!) with what we thought was chicken pox but turned out to be eczema that is huge (all over her body) and infected Have antibiotics now and she is coping okay, looks awful though!

Caliandjack, some of the october mums have introduced milk so i am sure they can give you some ideas. We haven't yet and probably wont for a few more weeks to be honest, will wait til the eczema has cleared before introducing anything new to Paige.

We have a plunket appt for 12 months too, then again at 15 months.
