We were told to leave them in the carseat for no longer than an hour to hour and a half. Our capsule has a newborn insert which is still too big for DS and his head was not supported at all, so we bought the same head support as isaacsmum has recommended above by Babyfirst. Our capsule came with an insert. It went the whole length of the capsule & and there was a head bit which stopped his head falling over.
Once he grew a bit I took it out, but then his head fell over into what looked like a very uncomfortable position. So I got a 'baby first' head rest and that seemed to do the trick just fine. (padding around head but not under bottom & around sides like the original capsule insert)
At first I was worried about the 'not leaving them in the capsule' thing. Especially on long road trips (5hr drive at 5 weeks). But then I talked to some other mums & plunket. The other mums said - if baby's asleep, keep driving. Plunket said, not to leave them too long (no numbers) but modern capsules are getting better all the time.

I've been told Happi inserts are actually really bad!
And during the renewal of my first aid course (2 months ag) I found out that babies' airways get blocked if their heads get tilted back (in adults airways open up when you tilt their head backwards) .

Hiya, I saw a topic on here a while ago about not leaving babies in capsules for long periods of time, something to do with their airways. I have tried searching for it, no luck. Someone reccomended getting a head support thingy for the capsule, and I wanted to investigate further, can someone point me in the right direction for this?
