Thanks for all your replies. I think I'll talk to the plunket nurse on tuesday about what to do. Gaviscon seemed to work a little this afternoon but not this evening.

A good rule of thumb I got told was, go measure out a teaspoon of water and spill it on the bench.

It often looks like a lot but is really only a teaspoon.

Maybe throw a few of those on the bench until you get something equal to the size spills you're getting them you can gauge just how much she is bringing up.

Most are smallish leaks out of the side of the mouth (the bird poo sized ones), But at least once a day we'll get a projectile one. They're not whole feeds but it seems like the majority of the feeds sometimes. She'll spill then demand another whole feed.

The bigger one this afternoon covered my shoulder, completely missing the cloth I had there, and went all down my cleavage and all over her face, hands, and the top half of her bodysuit. Then I put her down after mopping that up and she spilled 10cm out from the side of her face and 1 side of her face was covered.

She gets real upset about it if she's lying down but is happier if she's sitting up.

How much spilling is normal, and when should I be worried?

I mentioned she was a bit spilly to the doctor at her 6 week jabs but it's got a lot worse since then. Even though I'm using cloth flats every time I hold her or put her down anywhere I'm still getting covered.

All the guides say to consult the doctor if your baby is spilling a lot, but what constitutes a lot?
