My cousin who recently got married asked us if she could re-gift a wedding present of theirs, I said as long as it wasn't junk we'd never use go for it! Turns out its one of the best presents we received but they already had 2 so didn't need another one!! So I'm stoked!!!

I've caught out a friend re-gifting. She got given a towel/facecloth/handtowel set for her birthday. Then for xmas she gave me the facecloths. Not the entire set, just the facecloths! I thought that was a bit cheap! LOL.

There's the odd present that I've put heaps of time and thought into that I'd be gutted to learn someone regifted. For most of the part, though, I wouldn't mind if someone regifted one of my presents (particularly something like baby clothes!). Once it's theirs, it's theirs, they can do what they want with it.

Wouldn't mind receiving something regifted, either, I don't think - I'm sure I have from time to time.

Same here Though we haven't had stuff to put in there for a while, it was mainly stuff from when Harry was born that was the wrong season... oh and we were given heaps of polarfleece type baby blankets that we don't use, so most those were gifted to the City Mission.

For our engagement, we were gifted this extravagent pressie - a dinner set with gold rims. We opened it and found a card to the people who gave it to us lol - they got it for their wedding! We found out because my sister was looking on trademe for something similar and then it popped up - so she looked at it thinking that someone else had exactly the same thing that we got SIL - but then saw the Trademe name and the area and thought oh that is SIL.

Mum was guttered, I was more annoyed than upset - and to make it worse shes just gotten something VERY similar to what we brought her!

Yep I would do it too .. especially with newborns, they get so many clothes its rediculous, you would have to change them 50 times a day to go through it.

I have a confession to make, my friend from Oz was visiting over new years and had bought her a present for her 30th, we didn't end up catching up so I kept the present for myself In my defence, she hadn't got me anything for my 30th, so it was more of a 'just in case she had something for me' gift. It still sounds bad doesn't it I really like it though!!!

Re kids clothes, I will definitely be doing some re-gifting, we have SO many pretty frilly dresses it's rediculous. My SIL sold a really expensive gift that my whole family put in for her for her big birthday - we paid $260 for it - she sold it on TM for $15 - we were PI$SED off to say the least!

hehe its funny getting caught out but i wouldnt have a problem with it unless it was pretty thoughtless and just seemed like they were passing off crap rather than something i could use or want.

Mum is always buying bits and peices and putting them away incase she needs to give a pressie for a kid or entertain Josh. I re-gift and have no problems doing so. I wouldnt re-gift to immediate family or close friends but have no problem doing it. I have "gift" box that I pick from and I write down who gave it to me so I dont give it back LOL

In these times one must be frugal LOL..

I actually probably wouldn't have thought anything of it, if I could've used the gift I was given.  But I can't use it.  Even the blanket... I've had 2 winter babies, and just had my 4th child, so have PLENTY of fleecey blankets.

 

I've re-gifted once before.  We were given HEAPS of coffee mugs for our engagement and wedding, so I re-gifted a set to a friend for her engagement that was a few months after us.  But I know they would've been used and needed.

Hi, I have regifted a few things in the collection box for daycare hampers - normally nice smellies as I can't use alot of the body creams out there. Ah, nope haven't re-gifted before. It's honestly something I've never actually thought of doing. Although I'm pretty positive we have received re-gifted gifts (geez thats a mouthful!)

Any baby stuff that has been inappropriate (ie, clothes not weather-appropriate) I've just passed onto friends, not as gifts, or dropped off at Plunket/Salvation Army.

I have re-gifted baby stuff too. Not back to the same person or someone they know of course. And only with things that I receive two of and can't exchange or items that never got worn cos of size/season/not my style. I think why not. Better than un-used items sitting around my house. Or me having to go and buy something similar. I regifted today!!   I realised that a friend who was visiting who I hadnt seen in ages bought me a birthday pressie but I never gave her one as she was meant to come up to Auckland the weekend after her birthday but never did. I kept meaning to send her something but never got round to it. Haha Yes I have regifted! I wouldn't regift an item given to me by a close friend or relative, and wouldn't regift to them either though.

I think it's perfectly fine when it's given to someone outside the circle of people from which the original gift came from (because then you won't get caught) haha. I mean, when you start having kids, you end up getting to know lots of other people with kids, and going to parties etc, so it can add up buying gifts all the time. So I'm pretty sure I've snapped out a friend re-gifting a present to me.  She's not a close friend, is actually my sister's friend but we've known each other for years and I went to her baby shower last year, and visited her after she had her baby.

 

She came to visit me last week and after she left I opened the present she brought for Ava.  It was a cute unisex AIO size 000 and a creamy coloured fleecey blanket.  I thought that Ava wouldn't get to wear the AIO being that it's too hot and she'll be too big to wear it when it's cold enough too.  The tag (with no price) is still attached so I took it back to Farmers and asked if it was possible to exchange it for a bigger size.  The customer service chick said she hadn't seen this AIO on the racks and went off to check and also got on the phone (to probably talk to the supervisor to see if I was allowed to exchange without a voucher).  She then checked on the computer and said the item was so old it was in their clearance stock worth $1.50.  So they couldn't do any exchange since there obviously wasn't any in their stock.  I was quite embarressed that my friend had pretty much been snapped out for re-gifting - when they are really well off!!

 

She's obviously given me a gift she was given for her son who was born May last year (and they didn't know the sex of their baby so why it was a unisex outfit). 

 

I laughed everytime I think of it.  Have you re-gifted before?  Or have you caught someone else re-gifting to you?
