Sorry, our camry is a 2001 GL. So no good as you looking for a later model.

I was just interested in why you didn't like it as I can imagine we will be keen to have another camry when we upgrade. Not keen on a tacky interior!

I would love a holden commodore sedan but otherwise I would stick to a station wagon. These mazda 6 sw sound popular. Jojo, it was basically just it's interior, it was pretty tacky. The dash was real weird & it just felt like a rental car, spacy but not what you'd own yourself. Plus the radio didn't have a place to plug in an MP3 player LMAO. What is the model of your camry station wagon. I thought that the only one is the Avensis in the years 2004-2006. The Sportivo interior...loved it!

We are looking at an ex lease one as well.

We had a Ford Focus Station Wagon and loved it so much. I love my wagon - will never go back to a sedan now!! And I don't think they are all fugly - they are definitely getting prettier as time goes by

But I do agree with the CVT trans - we have a 1999 Nissan Primera with CVT trans and the CVT had a hissy on us recently and we had to put a major new part in which cost $700 - we have been told that was a VERY cheap fix in terms of CVT failures!

But yeah, love the space of a wagon - can take the dogs with you too or fit both the big buggy and groceries all at once

Another vote for Mazda 6 here. Ours is an ex-lease too and we have had it for just over a year. It had 157K kms on the clock when we got it so was a great price.

It is great to drive and really comfy on long trips. We have taken it away heaps and it fits all of our stuff in easily. I think the camry sw is the biggest station wagon you can get??? they have a HUGE boot space, its awesome!!

AandCs mum we got our mazda from the exlease place in mt wellington, i cant remember what it is called..........it has very high kms on it (when we bought it 4 years ago it was 2 years old with 170K kms) but they are all NZ new with great service history's. We have done another 100K kms in it, and havent had any issues whatsoever.

I have a toyota camry station wagon and it's great. We have always found toyota vehicles so reliable. They just keep going and going!

I have already measured the corolla vs the camry sedans & the corolla is 1.2 wide & the camry is 1.5

We love our Avensis. Friend just brought one as well cos she liked it to. Salesman told us they have one of the biggest boots for a stationwagon. There are meant to be a few of them around in PN at the moment. No looking at a 90's car at all. Latest year I want to go is a 2004. Means it's 10 years newer than our current Camry.

Test drove a 2006 Camry GL the other day & didn't like it, although it was nice to drive & was no bigger or smaller feeling than our current Camry.

I parked next to a Mazda 6 today & it was shorter than my Camry!!

I have a Toyota Avensis SW and I love it!!   Really good to drive, economical, had it for almost 4 years and nothing has gone wrong. They are also quite nice inside as everthing feels really solid. Safe too.

My little car finally got too small so we upgraded me to a Mazda6 as we knew how good they are.

They tend to be used as fleet cars / sales cars on leases, so mileage on the second hand ones is on the high side. That really doesn't matter too much though as Mazdas just keep on going. Our one is a 2006 and has 132k on the clock, but it drives as if it is brand new.

ETA - Oh, and they are nice looking cars as well! As a general rule, SW's tend to be hideously ugly...

 

I have got a Mazda6 sportshatch brought brand new in 2006 but I have only done just under 50k's they are awesome car to drive.

Ive got a Toyota caldina GT almost ready for me i like the look of them and cant wait but havent driven it yet so cant help much.

Had a Subaru GTB till DP sold it on me claiming it was a gas guzzler but i never noticed it must have been the way he drove it. I loved it but apparently thats irrelevant when good money is offered.

Friend has a legnum that has crapped itself again DPs advice (he is a mechanic and WOF inspector) was to burn it. Auto Mitsi's from the 90's tend to have crap trans in them as even my galant has dropped its gears twice (first time only a couple of months after i brought it)

DP is anti hondas as well so all i know about them is they burn well so cant help you with them either. Havent heard anything bad about mazda's from him either.

Mazda atenza's are AWESOME!! And such good looking wagons I also find my Nana's nissan primera wagon is really roomy and nice to drive. I have a suzuki cultus wagon (don't laugh!) and I quite like it! It was cheap as chips, heaps of space in the boot, and so SO cheap to run! It's also guttless as **** though haha but a good option for a cheaper wagon

I too have a Mazda Atenza SW and I LOVE it!!! I went from driving a little starlet to a SW and had no problems getting used to it - surprisingly. I think because I feel in love with it.
There is so much space in the boot! I have 2 prams always in the boot, and there is still room for my big grocery shop.

I really want a Mazda Capella wagon. Or a Mazda 6 wagon. Ive been looking for nearly a year now for one i like with low kms etc. I want to buy a sporty model as well.

We use to have a Primera Wagon. That was quite expensive on petrol. But i guess everyone has different opinions on what they think is expensive.

Bum Jane, that's what puts me off subaru's high on the steal list therefore putting up insurance. Especially seeing it will be parked out the front of our house.

Ohh might have to have a look at the Mazda 6 I need to put in two baby seats plus a school kid in the back. Vehicles have the air bag in the front now so stops kids being allowed in the front seat.

I don't see the point of an SUV not for school drop offs.

We've got a 4wd Caldina too and it's been great... getting a bit old now though so might have to look around a bit soon. I can't imagine having anything other than a station wagon now, although DH wants a nasty big SUV. We have a Subary Legacy GTB SW and love love love it to pieces (DH's pride and joy). Shame its in NZ sitting in storage while were here. DH has modified it to not look so fugly. But we used it while we were in NZ on holidays and it fitted all our cr*p with no problems at all. We had 3 suitcases (2 large ones and 1 small one), a pram and a subwoofer just in the boot. We could have got more in but DH has a thing about not being able to see out the window.

my dad is a mechanic and has run his own quite large workshop but 25 years so takes into account mechanical failure, buying new parts, how easy parts are to get, fuel efficinacy, crash test, blah blah blah. lol.

anyway he has been helping me look for a station wagon over the last few months. the ones he told me to go after are nissan SW's, Toyota SW and possibly mitsi lancers but that he wasnt as keen on them. i bought a nissan wingroad yesterday and its great. its only a 1500cc and an 1800 would have been better but we are on a limited budget so not being about overtake cars on hills during long trips isnt on the top of my list. lol. hope that helps :)

Sally can you measure the width of the car/boot. M&D have a legacy & it's really narrow but theirs is a sedan.

DH has a Mazda 6 as a work car and I quite like it. Great on long journeys and have to agree on the look, I usually hate the look of SW's, but this one is quite nice.

Having said that he also had a Mitsibishi Airtrek which I LOVED. Similar to the Outlander I think. That's the car I would buy if I was buying a bigger car. I have specific boot measurement that I want metre deep by 1.5m across LMAO...that's my current boot space & I need it all!!!

We've just bought a Nissan Stagea. Its a complete boy racer car with TONNES of boot space and I LOVE IT!! hehe. Oh, and steer clear of Altezza Gita's too if you see them. They're a station wagon but they have bugger all space in the back.

I would definitely recommend a Mazda6. We had a brand new one a couple of years ago as DH's work car. Was sad to see it go when he was upgraded earlier this year.

My little car finally got too small so we upgraded me to a Mazda6 as we knew how good they are.

They tend to be used as fleet cars / sales cars on leases, so mileage on the second hand ones is on the high side. That really doesn't matter too much though as Mazdas just keep on going. Our one is a 2006 and has 132k on the clock, but it drives as if it is brand new.

ETA - Oh, and they are nice looking cars as well! As a general rule, SW's tend to be hideously ugly...

We are looking at either a Toyota Avensis or DH is suggesting a Honda Accord SW. I have bad images of Honda accords in my head (you know the 80's versions )
