I only wear make up when I have to, and even then just a bit of foundation and eye shadow/mascara. I don't bother with lipstick as it always seems to be gone by the time I get wherever I was going

But yup I cleanse/tone/moisturise every day and exfoliate twice a week. And occasionally do a mask when I can be bothered I try and cleanse/moisturise at night too but am often too buggered and don't get around to it.

With clothes, my 'good' clothes are my jeans and a tee shirt lol. When it's hot I wear shorts and tee shirt. I do wear trackpants at home but I don't go out in them. Oh and I also live in my jandals in summer haha, or my $20 warehouse sand shoes in winter (or colder summer days). I don't own a pair of heels!

So I guess since I dont wear loads of different products I can justify spending a little more on what I do buy.
Garnier from the supermarket moisturiser really works for me, bout $20 for day and night cream

Havent seen designer brands buzzybee - but with check it out - It dosent have that sparkly 'natural glow' look to it I take it??

It only takes 10 mins and I feel so much better for it.

Personally, I think I need to - I have pale, freckly skin that easily goes red/blotchy, and features that look very indescript (right word?) without some definition.

I know many guys prefer their partner without makeup, but I'm pretty sure than my DH is not one of them. (Must ask him!)

And yes, I agree with the person who said they wouldn't like to see their DH 'let himself go' either ... ok, DH can't help losing a bit of hair (), but I wouldn't find him as attractive with a beer belly.

As for my hair, I've always had very thick and uncontrollable (wavy) hair, so I usually just tie it back unless I'm doing something special. But I get it regularly cut and often highlighted/dyed.

Re: weight, I'm less than I was pre-pregnancy, but that's due to running around after a toddler and being too busy to snack, rather than to diet and exercise (in fact I think I eat more chocolate now than I ever did!)

But then I did have three babies and a miscarriage in less than two years, plus a rather nasty bout of PND, and my weight has always been something I struggled with. But as I mentioned, I've recently taken control of that aspect of my life and am loving being back at the gym and generally just feeling so much healthier.

For a long time I let myself go in general too -pregnancy makes me violently ill so I spent a large chunk of time with sallow skin from vomiting all day, patches of eczema round my mouth from ptyelism and awful hair coz I couldn't sit long enough to have it done.

But in the last year or so, I've started making more effort, partly coz I've been back at work (and I work in a fairly image-conscious industry, even tho our team are very laid back about it). I wear makeup most days (unless it is really hot, in which case I agree with Sally belly, wearing a full face of foundation just feels ick. I get my hair cut, coloured and foiled every six weeks, and I make an effort with my clothes.

Which is not to say I am perfect - I frequently spend all day in my PJs if I don't have to go out, and never wear makeup just around the house. And yes, I have been to the supermarket in my PJs before (oh, the shame!), and am allergic to shoes ( a product of my Kiwi upbringing ) so don't wear them unless I have to, so as a result have flat feet with dry, cracked heels.

Willie doesn't really care what I look like, but I feel better when I make an effort, and he does notice...

Hopefully I will put a bit of weight back on now that Kyle isn't feeding as much.

I've never really worn make up except when going out. In my line of work going to work done up would have caused me a whole lot of grief, hard enough to get taken seriously in a mans world without turning up looking like you are worried about breaking a nail.

I so need a haircut and a new wardrobe but it's not gonna happen so just have to work with what I have.

I have never left my house in Pj bottoms though and DH always laughs cos I will do my hair and sometimes change my clothes before I even go to countdown. I'm always mortified when we have a parcel cos the courier comes really early and I'm usually pre coffee and in my most unattractive, but very comfy, dressing gown.

And I'm also always in shorts and singlets with my make up done!

I think I've let myself go a little - but not completely to the pack! I put make up on every morning, and my hair is long so usually tied up but will have it out when I go out. My eyebrows are always done and toenails painted. Clothing-wise I dress way more casual - as I kinda need to be with getting down on the ground more and going to cofee group / playcentre etc. I will still wear jeans or nicer shorts out and sometimes dresses but with flat shoes now (NEVER wore flat shoes out of the house before kids) and trackys out sometimes and alot at home. My wardrobe is very limited, as I'm also not buying clothes til I've lost weight (and will then be back into my old wardrobe which isn't as trendy now as it used to be, and not expensive but classic/plain and nice) .... I have about 7 or 8kgs to lose and have just started trying the last few weeks .... but I'm UP to a size 10, so not exactly huge, just too much tummy (2 c setions and a 9lb bub will do that!).

I look at other women in their mid-30s without kids - and alot of them seem to have gone to the pack as much as I have! haha

Ummmm....whatever! I don't feel complete without it!

I am lighter now than what I was pre pregnancy with Cameron. I also do my hair every day (gotta love my GHD's) and I do a full face of makeup except mascara (it just falls off anyway so I don't bother unless I am going out somewhere special).

I have relaxed though and wear jandals, tank tops and shorts most days. However, I am not one of these people who feels comfy going out in my ugg boots and pj bottoms so never do that. I also do my toenails and more recently my fingernails - they are shaped and painted and I make sure its not all horrible and chipped.

DH loves me whether I am made up or not - but for me personally I feel better having a full face of makeup and my hair done.

If you're comfortable with or without makeup that's fine. Sometimes the most beautiful faces I've seen are the most natural ones. I'm at home with a pair of stilettos..but I'm also just as comfortable in sneakers or jandals. Whatever is comfortable, what ever makes one feel good, that's all that matters. My partner is tall, dark, and handsome!....but he's let go as much as I have lol...he's just lucky he's tall. But we're working on ourselves. Yup there's been plenty of times when I think I embarrass him..living in tshirts and trackies..but as my confidence grows with my slowly shrinking body..I know I'll never feel that down about myself again.

Edited by ooEvaoo

I never learnt how to do makeup but am learning a little now and wear it sometimes, not every day but reguarly and am experimenting with it. I've got some comfortable skirts / tops that I think look quite nice, and I throw on whatever first comes to hand in the mornning (provided it's not a pink skirt and a red top or some glaring thing like that). But if I'm at home on a Saturday in trackies and want come milk, I don't get changed to go get it.

I hardly ever wear heels - I have two pairs, one that I quite like for the odd special occasion, and a pair of stillettos that my sister wants me to wear to her wedding, and that I'm busy getting used to walking in!

Figure-wise, I used to care a lot in my late teens / early 20's (too much, I didn't find it fun at all). Then I got married - and I didn't let myself go (I've put on a few kilos on my teenage weight, but nothing that bothers me in the slightest), but I did stop caring. For me, that was a good thing, DH finds it much nicer too! Having tyroid issues that really bought my weight down for a while probably gave me a bit of a wake-up call that being super-slim isn't all that. I try and eat heathily, and if I think I'm plumping up a bit, I try and eat a little more healthily for a while, and it seems to do the trick!

DH doesn't seem to have any trouble finding me attractive, and I'm happy, which I kind of figures is what matters And when we do have Bubs, I won't have far to fall

ETA that the one thing I do do is try to get some excercise in. I figure it's healthy, and makes me feel better, it's pretty important. I'm not really into gyms, so I usually go walking (running in my more energetic times!) or swimming.

Edited by Hopes

When you are at a gym every day its easy to find the motivation to use it! But its been a little harder this time, still concious of it though.

I'm not a make - up girl, too clueless and unco to use the blimmin' stuff. I would for a wedding, fancy dinner etc. it helps that I'm blesses with a smoothish olivey complexion. I will see at least 5 people I 'know', even if it is just the shop keepers. Generally there will be an inlaw, a GP, a neighbour and a parent from kindy lol. Supermarket at night in trackies & ugg boots! Then I watched a program about how NZ woman have let themselves go once they've got married & started having kids.

So I decided then and there to never go out in trackies & ugg boots again. Getting changed into something nicer definitely made me feel better....definitely helped with my self image. Definitely helped our home situation as DH was going through depression as well.

This time around my friends have described me as a MILF....I make sure I dye my greys, tie my hair back or straighten it & I am usually wearing something nice. Doesn't have to be expensive, can be hand me downs too, but it has to be something that makes you feel better so not a baggy t-shirt! I also have thin Lizzy which I keep in the car & whip around my face as I leave the drive. That alone makes me feel invincible!

Hrmm, probably yes. I'm nearly 20kg over my pre-preg weight, I have an "apron" and I don't put on makeup everyday, nor do I really dress up - singlet and a skirt, or shorts, is my lot unless I'm going to town or work, when I might put a bit of makeup on...and I live in my jandals (granted, they're flashy jandals, but still, at the end of the day, they're jandals!!).

So...I'm presentable, but worn in.
