At one they should still have 500ish mls of milk a day but if they are having yoghurt, cheese, ice-cream etc they don't need that much. By 1 the food he eats is more important than milk.

We have the opposite problem- miss 16 months LOVES her bottles and refuses to give them up! It's a tricky cycle because we give her the milk because she doesn't eat well- but by having milk she doesn't need to eat as well as she's already full from the milk argh!

We have gone through stages where we would be lucky if she had 1 bottle of 180mls, so it does vary. I have tried going with a sippy cup and even tried having the milk cold but NO! as far as DD is concerned milk must be warm and in a bottle!

He has always loved milk though, so we might be a long time before dropping all together. I would be quite happy with what he eats to drop them.

They also go in phases, we have had phases where he drinks very little.

It sounds like he is eating well so I would follow his lead, offer it but if he doesn't want it thats ok.

My mum thinks I stopped drinking any milk from about 9 months and I still can't stand it, where as my brother would drink litres a day given the choice.

And he looooves cream cheese so has that a fair bit. Then 100mls formula on his brekky. But yeah to me he seems to eat quite a bit? For eg. today... he had one and a half weetbix's and half a banana with 100mls formula for brekky, marmite sandwich and calci-yum yoghurt and cruskit and a fruit bar thing and rice crackers and cheese for lunch and for dinner he has steamed veges with one of those watties simply create sachets (3/4 fills a normal sized bowl) and then a tin of custard for desert. And as for bottles... he's probably had 50mls total out of 2 bottles!

Hannibal that's reassuring that your little girl stopped at the same time

She always dropped a bottle well before she was suppose to all the way thru. We do cows milk on cereal, cheese, yoghurt, ice cream (maybe once a week) and at 15 months she is doing really well. As mums it probably stresses us out more worrying about it! She also now will have milk at morning and afternoon tea and also has a bit of water thru out the day - I don't give her anything else like juices to drink.
