The people I am around now don't tend to say much because it's a slightly tender subject for some of them (I met most of them when I was going out with DH's best friend...who is no longer his best friend... ). But sometimes it comes up yep, especially when we are talking about other people from the times.

One of DH's friends had HUGE difficulty being happy for DH when we first got together, becaue all he could remember was me being a pretty nasty girl in my mid to late teens, with alcohol, guys and other stuff. I had an interview at the Railway when I was back packing about 14 years ago, can't remember why I didn't fo the job but I ended up as a waitressin a restaurant called Christophers instead. I spent about 4 months in Palmie when I was backpacking

I don't have problems as I tend not to keep in touch when i l;eave a place and I flitted around from place to place in my 20s, have hardly any school friends I keep in touch with and my long term friends all did the same things anyway so they can't talk. DH knnew me from when i was 20 so he knows it all too

I'm married to an Air Force serviceman and I don't get hassled, but then his friends and work mates didn't know me before I was with DH. I moved towns to be with him.

I did however have several affairs within the navy it was loads of fun.

I get away with only cause I don't live where I grew up and nobody knows, DH know I was a bit of slapper before I met him  he tamed me now I'm old, boring and married.  But then so are the other girls I used to hang out with - we all grow up in the end. Not sure about Army guys thou, some of them seem pretty immature.

I am still remembered as the crazy girl.... I tell ya, theres something about guys in an army uniform... I never stop perving at mine when hes in his purrrrr (except after a field exercise!)

Do they do that cos they know both you and the guys? So they think its ok to make jokes?

... and I'm guessing that would happen a bit more within the military, would you say? From my experience, people in the Army have long memories! And the community is too small!

Do you get given a hard time for the things you did pre DH and pre kids???

I am forever given a hard time about my time with "army guys" before I "settled" down. I know I was a bad girl in my late teens (I sometimes wonder how I didn't get pregnant or catch anything) with guys in general and did things I really shouldn't of done (I spent a bitof time in the army barracks in Linton). But they happened a good 10 years ago and the guys I spend time with here in Waiouru give me a hard time about it everytime we have a few drinks.

Why can't people get over it???
