Good luck!!

And beware: you will feel very mean but he will def forgive and still love you and it will be all good!!

We had 3 horrible nights letting Ella cry herself to sleep but each night the length of time she cried for was halved. We haven't looked back since then and she now goes off to sleep on her own really happily. Good luck!

Unfortunately we find if we go in to comfort after 20-30 mins of crying then it just seems to prolong the whole process. I try to get outside so I don't have to listen to it! Also, we sneak outside and peek through the windows so we don't disturb Ethan to check he is ok...
This will be a bit painful, but UNBROKEN SLEEP IS WORTH IT!!!

    Author: aimeejoy
Subject: 3150
Posted: 16 July 2006 at 2:29pm

Sorry Lu but you are probably going to have to get tough and just let him cry it out. We have done this with Hannah and it is an absolute nightmare for those few nights, you really need to have someone with you for support, but after when they just go to sleep without a problem it is so worthwhile. There are 2 ways; the first is the gentle approach where you go in every few minutes to reassure them you are there (no eye contact or picking up, just a little patting or something), then slowly extend how long you leave them for. The second way is a bit more brutal but works quicker - put baby to bed awake and then just leave them to it. The first night with Hannah she cried for over an hour, a little less the next night, then 20 mins, then around 5, now its a minute or so. While shes was crying I would go and have a shower cos I couldnt hear her, and do the dishes and washing as its as far from her room as poss!

Good luck
