Author: Mandy269456
Subject: 31812
Posted: 05 September 2021 at 8:14pm

I put on 15kg my last pregnancy and most of that was put on in the first trimester because of MS And then in the last trimester a lot of my gain was also fluid retention. 7 weeks after birth I am now 13kg off my pre preg weight I read somewhere that 12 - 18kg is the normal range.

If you can keep active and avoid comfort eating (definitely harder for me during the pandemic) you can definitely lose the weight you accumulated during pregnancy.

The recommended 150 minutes a week of moderate exercise (or 75 minutes of more intense exercise) definitely helps. That's a couple of walks or online cardio / Zumba / HIIT classes a week.

Yoga helped me lose my weight a lot faster.

Yoga burns calories when done the right way.

If you are serious about losing weight and getting fit, you might want to implement a 60-minute power yoga and/or vinyasa flow practice at least five to six days per week.

This yoga weight loss program was easy to follow and worked for me during my pregnancy when I started gaining too much weight.

Each class is easy to follow, but is varied and enjoyable. Dynamic Sequencing means you'll always be challenged regardless of your current level.

If you want to follow my example, think about coupling your practice with a whole foods diet for optimal results.

Good luck honey!

Mandy

I am in a similar situation... Im a lot overweight, BMI about 45 and worry that my weight is affecting our chances... we have been TTC for almost a year but Im almost afraid to go to my doc for tests cos I KNOW they will say you need to loose weight...its not like I haven't been trying for the last 10 years!!!

It is a big relief to hear of other ladies getting BFP's while being a less than ideal weight...

I am loosing weight (most weeks), you know eating healthy and walking but just want it to be over already!!

I then thought that I would lose some weight to see if that had any impact. I got pregnant when I'd lost 10kg's but MC but then got pregnant again on second cycle after the MC (with twins). Also, I was 41 so I also knew that that impacted on my chances of conceiving. So 12 months and no BFP's. Lost 10kg and get 2 positives within a matter of months of one another. Of course I'll never know if I hadn't lost the weight would I still have conceived. By losing the weight it did make me feel good so hmmm, who knows!

We stopped TTC for a couple of months, I went on a healthy eating and exercise plan at the gym and lost around 6kg. We weren't trying or not preventing the next month and bam I was pg! Unfortunetly I ended up mc which had nothing to do with being overweight! Unfortunately since my mc back in Nov '08 I've put that back on and a little more so Im now trying to get my A into G to lose some weight as I think with me personally it helped me get pg. I went to the doc earlier this month and it did look like I wasn't ov with irrgular cycles and also temping but this month I did ov (had bloods done last week) Yay! Im not going to give up TTC but Im going to really try focus on losing weight...

At the end of my pregnancy I had borderline G.Diabetes and high blood pressure....but I didn't exercise and ate whatever I wanted to that definitely would have contributed. I definitely want to get down to my goal weight before trying for #2..and will definitely keep up my exercise and healthy eating during that pregnancy..think it would be pretty cool to compare the differences.

I think it will obviously help to concieve if you are lighter but on the whole I think when your body is ready its ready. I'm under the OB at the hospital and when I'm in the waiting room it is amazing to see how many of the pregnant women are actually overweight ( I don't mean that in a derogatory way) its just a fact.
My OB actually said the overweight thing is more of factor during the pregnancy rather than the "get pregnant" factor. I do wish I was lighter to begin with but I wasn't and thankfully I haven't gained any weight (did gain 2kgs but now back to pre pregnancy weight) so far.
Goodluck with TTC cruzychic..............it will happen for you its just that I know its frustrating right now especially when you want those BFP's straight away
I'll be reading about that BFP soon I hope
ETA I was diagnosed with PCO so thought it would be ages to get preggers but I managed to lose 5kgs before I got preggers the first time and my friend who is an OB said sometimes thats enough just to get your hormones back in working order. After the m/c I stayed off the pill (was on mini pill) and I think that helped keep my hormones in check.

Edited by Buttersmum

People who are overweight can definitely get preggers but the risks are greater when you are overweight and pregnant (for lots of stuff including, high Blood pressure, Gestation Diabetes, miscarriage etc). So I think it's a great thing to focus on losing weight if ya need to as pg is tough enough on ya body. I have heard the 10% thing too...
