Reiki ?? if your open to alternative therapy..

i thought it was all airy fairy hippy stuff.. then a friend did some when i was suffering from endometriosis and it was .... amazing... took away all the pains and i felt ' healed' very hard to explain without sounding like a weirdo !!

maybe something to try ??
Sounds like maybe that was what Hunnybunnys Dad was doing ??

My son gets them bad too at times. We use Vicks vapour rub and rub his legs. That seems to help. That and pamol, although I think the pamol is more a placebo. I read that story about the teething necklace too.

I had them bad as a kid and mum used to put Rawleys on my legs.that always helped.
There is a homeopathic version of it available , but I cannot remember the name. My daughter gets them quite badly, I have found Pamol and elevating her legs wtih hot water bottles help ALOT! there was a lady in (another company's) magazine who wrote in a letter about her child's growing pains. She had a little bub as well who had a teething necklace and one day she thought that maybe getting the big kid an amber necklace may help - she was at the *what the hell else can I do* stage. She said that it helped quite a bit. I remember really clearly having them when I was young as well, sometimes it was so bad that I couldn't stand up from sitting down and would just sit there and cry. I used to get them badly when I was a kid too. I remember my dad coming in in the middle of the night and walking me round and round my bedroom in the dark to make them go away. Ouch, poor wee dude!
I got them quite badly as a child, I'd wake crying with the pain.
Panadol helped a bit but massages were good too. Apparently calcium and magnesium supplements can be helpful but you'd want to check with your Dr before putting him on either of those.

thanks TysMummy I will try nurphen & check out other for age group.

oh I had bad cramps in my legs when I was pg, my m/w told me to take blackmores pg & bf, & they really helped.

Funny DS1 never had anything like this, think DS2 maybe having growth spurts.

It is really hard seeing little ones in such pain & they can not really tell you what is happening.

My Dad had magic hands that'd make my growing pains all better

He'd clap them really loud, rub them together to warm them up (i guess.. I dunno why hed rub them together lol) then rub up and down our legs really quickly. Dunno what it actually did, but always got us laughing feeling a bit better

Mum could never do it as good though Musta been a Dad thing

DS2 (5ys) has been getting bad pains in his legs when sleeping at night & usually between 10pm-3am. It has only happened a few times & over 7mths.

I took him to the Dr & was told it was growing pains, blah blah goodbye.
Last week he had them again & I rang the health-line & was told it was mostly cramps.

I think I can pretty much pinpoint it to when we walk to & from school or long distances.

DH used to have them when he was little & I just found out a little cousin has been having them for a few years now.

I am going to try multi vits for kids in case he is missing some as he is not the best vege eater.
I am also going to use the wheat bag.

I am wondering if anyone has suffered from them or have kids that get them & what you recommend that may help.
