And as a PP said, mine is wedged down a little bit between the matress and bars so she can get underneath the bumper<br /><br />This was her first sleep in the cot, duvet and toys were merely for the photograph, but I will be using the duvet this winter.<br /><br /><img src="http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa159/babykatnz/Jaelyn%203%20m&#111;nths%20up/DSCF1363.jpg" border="0">]]>

The risk as I understand it is if bubs can get caught underneath it or between the bumper and the cot rails. ]]>

He quite often gets into the corner, bunches it down and uses it as a pillow. Strange little boy. But we've never had any issues with it, and it really helped with the waking from stuck feet/banged head. ]]>

It worked to a degree and he stopped waking so much in a night.<br /><br />DS2 has it on already as he likes to sleep in funny positions also.<br /><br />I just made sure mine was really well tied to the cot etc and we have a movement monitor which shoul alert me to anything.]]>

Once he started rolling etc I removed it as I felt it was a suffocation risk as he is often has his face right up by the bars where the cot bumper would be. <br /><br />He does hit his head quite a bit as he is an active sleeper but it doesn't seems to bother him much, or maybe it does... hence why he wakes 3-4x a night... <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley5.gif" border="0"> ]]>

Then I when I started ready about baby stuff I discovered that quilts & bumpers were not recommended on new born 's cots.<br /><br />So when is it ok to use them?<br /><br />DS has discovered he can move in his cot, and I often find him sideways crying and it looks like he's hitting his head against the side rails of the cot.  Then all of a sudden I thought -  they're called bumpers because they're to soften the blow when baby bumps their head against the cot rails - a moment of epiphany.  Maybe I should get the set out of the cupboard.]]>
