Thank you for your advice

Between me and her father, we are tag teaming the extra reassuring cuddles during the settling periods. It is working well, and we are working as a team, yay

Teething was a issue but she seems to have passed a difficult patch, and now it is the attachment - cling on stage that is the new fad at the moment.

And so it has happened, during the night wakes i have let her fall asleep on me. Author: kiwikid
Subject: 32220
Posted: 12 March 2010 at 8:59am

Ooooh ninemonthitis rares its clingy head again! DS and most of our July08 thread had the same issues at this age, so rest assured its totally normal and it will definately pass. Try and ride it out the best you can with what works in your family, I think during this time (about a month or so???) I would comfort DS to sleep for his naps by letting him fall asleep on me if he needed to. I always put him down the same way with the expectation that it was time for sleep but if he lost the plot and started crying lots then I'd pick him up and let him fall asleep on me. He didnt always need it but sometimes it was just the extra comfort and reassurance he needed. Dont worry about creating any bad habits, from my experience these behaviours tied in with developmental stages are just that, stages, and they pass and your happy baby will be back at around 10 /10.5mths

Hope that helps a little bit

Oh and make sure you get some time out for yourself whenever you can so that you dont get overtired and frustrated with your wee cling-on

This too shall pass - the mantra of Motherhood!

It most certainly sounds like a normal phase of separation anxiety. I would suggest being as patient as you can and helping her through the stage with lots of reassurance. It will pass. Hugs!

The only other things to consider that sometimes contribute to settling issues are teething, illness, readiness to drop a nap or overtiredness.

She gets herself all distressed and is completely beside herself when I put her down for her sleeps.

She is my first and therefore, the majority of the time it is just me and her...i am wondering if this because she is going thru a very clingy stage? So how can i combat this for her sleeps day and night?
Any ideas please :) As it never use to this way, she was so good??

Hmm.
