I've had that on my Toshiba - it could possibly be that the num lock gets accidentally activated in which case it doesn't recognise anything except the letters which double as numbers... in which case hold down the function key and hit whichever button serves as the num lock on/off and it should fix the problem.

Otherwise it could be a driver issue, you could check for and download the most recent version of your keyboard driver to see if that makes a difference...

The only way to get it to recognise the keyboard is to restart it. I've been into the control panel when it's playing up but it always tells me the keyboards are fine. Does anyone have any idea what could be going on? I tried to get hold of Compaq last year when it first started but they didn't respond to my emails.
