Make sure you write down the brand/name/number for your machine and go to the right shops :D
Second, you dont need to get all the binding and crap, just get you some fabric and cotton to match, pins and some elastic!

Go to Google, put in 'toddler pants pattern' in the search and off you go! if you click on the images option, you'll be able to see pictures of what you want before you have to wade thru millions of results.

http://images.google.co.nz/images?hl=en&source=hp&q=toddler%20pants%20pattern&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wi <--- thats the search link.

You might find it easier with the patterns that are only 2 pieces instead of the 4 - I make all of Thomas's trackies like this, they're great!

Also, weigh up the price of the stuff you need to buy compared to the cost of 2nd hand at SaveMart or op shops.
Good on you for getting into sewing! I started a year ago, bought myself a decent machine and have never looked back :D

Turn the pants inside out and fold them in half at the crutch and cut out a pattern onto paper (you should end up with 4 pieces) the back legs should be larger in the bum to allow for the nappy and just make the pattern slightly larger in general to allow for the seams and the waistband etc.

NOTE: this is coming from someone who has not sewn in a long time so don't take my word for it that it will work!

Over Easter, bring on the dependable weather!

So it's time to get out the sewing machine and make a whole lot of mocrofleece garments for the mud etc etc. She has some thermals and stuff, but we just want to take as much as possible that doesn't matter if it gets ruined.

Does anyone know of some online websites with really basic patterns for toddler tops/pants etc? Like total novice I'm going to need to relearn how to thread elastic type pants?

Also what do I want on my shopping list? I have...a machine, minus a foot. So I need a foot. Chalk, pins, maybe some form of binding? anything else?

Edited by Flake
