She does 4 x 45minute ones now with the occassional longer one or even a day with 3 longer sleeps. She doesn't have reflux so it is just her I think

He was never a good sleeper under about 6mths, but getting better now.

Not sure when it started, but he used to do 4 x 45min sleep a day no matter how I tried to make his sleeps longer. The best thing I ever did was accept the fact he was a short sleeper and work with it instead of trying to change it.

Then about a month back he changed to 3 sleeps, 45min, 1.5hr, 45min. It wasn't anything I did it's just he got older.

As for overnight at that age. Sometimes he'd feed then sleep. Other times I could be rocking him for an hour after a feed. It's a phase, and it will pass.

I agree about asking Dr to adjust medication. DS is now FF and on gaviscon which is a bit different. But when he started it at 4mths it changed his life!

I don't know if you find that he burps when you try winding him? So one suggestion would be that you make sure you burp him adequately after a feed.

It could be that the Losec may be wearing off. You could halve the dose and give him half in the morning and half at night but I would phone your GP and double check whether this would be helpful.

Sometimes takes a while to figure out our babies when they start doing something new - but you'll figure it out!

I refused to let him have the upper hand and stay up with him from then. We were finally able to settle him with a dummy or a few mins of cuddles then back down or failing that we would take him to bed with us and have him on our chest until he was asleep then pop him back to bed. He is also wrapped in a wrap me up for his night sleeps.

You may have already tried this but we just bought a mobile for his cot, he LOVES it and has slept without a hitch every time since getting it. It plays music and moves for 15 mins and he's asleep by the end of it.

I hope you find something that works or find someone who might have some more insight

Edited by MrsEmma

    Author: 1st_Time_Preggies
Subject: 32382
Posted: 20 March 2010 at 2:08pm

My 6 week old wee man has ALWAYS had sleep issues! However now that he is a bit older, things seem to be improving. He is on this third day of losec for silent reflux (have no idea if this has helped his sleeps or whether it is just coincidence!) and for the last three nights, he has had his 3 or 4am feed (I demand bf), then gone to sleep, only to wake about 1/2 an hour later. I have tried to resettle him, rock him, burp him and even feed him some more but he seems determined NOT to sleep. Could this be due to the losec? I am currently giving him his dosage in the morning so my husband thinks maybe it is wearing off? Any other ideas?

Also he seems determined not to sleep longer than an hour for his morning sleep, despite trying to resettle him, and trying everything under the sun. Is this normal?
