I am not actually sure how hot it is coz we have the air con on all the time hehe....I am trying to remember how cold it was when I went back to NZ last feb...Luckily I have a sister with an 8 month old so will be able to borrow clothes from her.
Honestly, the funniest thing is that I don't even own a cardi anymore haha! Melnel - if Jake has a favourite snack or something, I'd take a couple of packs (unopened) in case it's not available in Oz. Otherwise I think everyone else has covered it really well! When we came to NZ for a month I brought C's highchair (Ikea, it packed away easily and was light) as I knew it would make my life easier staying with family if we definitely had one the whole trip. It was great! We also took our own portacot and the bedding off C's bed so that he had the same bed the whole time too.

NatsCats, how hot is it where you are at the mo? I got SUCH a shock at how unused to NZ weather we were the last time we went back. And Callum had never experienced cold weather so I felt pretty sorry for him, the weather was terrible most of the time we were home. Layers are good, I took all cotton and borrowed wool stuff while we were home. Ohh this is handy since we are coming to NZ this weekend. Other than the obvious things like clothing and nappies etc this is what we took:

Blankie
4 favorite toys that were light weight
Paracetamol
2 teething toys
Grobag and blanket
Capsule and base
Sun screen (but make sure its less than 100 mls if you take it as carry on)
Disposal change mats (so worth the spend there, we had number 3's on the flight over)

To save on weight and space I bought nappies and wipes when we arrived. I only took an essential amount for the flight over.

When we went to the US for three weeks everyone packed

4 shorts
4 T shirts
jeans
fleece
5 changes of underwear
togs and towel
sandals and running shoes
Shared sponge bag

For Caleb we pretty much doubled up on his clothes. We did laundry about every third day. Caleb was the only one that never got down to his last set of clothes before we did washing. He was in disposables with throw away wipes the whole time as we travelled most days.

We also took him a toddler sleeping bag, little mattress and teddy so he had a familiar sleeping environment every night.

We took a bottle, sippy cup, reigns and a pile of muesli bars and boxes of raisens which was invaluable because he didn't like the food there so lived off our snacks brought from home for the first week, then didn't eat!

We took his buggy as he could sleep in it, and it coped with the walks we did in the National Parks, plus his car seat as we had a hire car for two weeks and it was cheaper and easier than hiring one over there.

A few disposables as back up if you're using cloth, as well as disposable wipes if you make your own like us. But we took lots of our own wipes (which are the little muslin/facecloth type things) as they were so handy. Pamol. Baby's 'luvvie' (blankie or fav bed toy etc). Your breasts for plane flights lol

In general though (esp if it's warm where you're going with access to washing machines), take FEWER clothes than you think you'll need cos we grossly overpacked and over estimated how many clothes Clodagh would need and as we did a daily wash and it was warm, she only got to wear less than half
