Thanks for your feedback

. We agree that things on the forums seem to tick along quite nicely most of the time, and when we have a little bump in the road, you're pretty good at letting us know via the 'Report Post' function, or by PM or email.
At this stage, we won't be appointing any further moderators, but rest assured that we make decisions related to the forums, individual threads etc. as a team, so we have that collective objectivity that is often hard for an individual moderator.
If you have any questions/feedback etc., do post it here, or PM or email one of the admin team - we always love to hear from our members, as you are what makes our online community so special

I think the moderators on this site are pretty good. i think that if we had more it might take away the freedom. oh and i also think that if we see something we should report the post as they cant be everywhere all the time

the only thing is (if they can) they should just edit the post to say deleted by admin not delete the whole thread but sometimes the whole thread needs to be deleted

oh and sorry CJ sometimes when im mad or upset i swear in my posts (only in the charting thread as you ladies know me) ill try not to

I don't reckon it needs more tbh.. People should just be made aware of the report post button so it can be utilized more. It's not just for spam, it's for anything you want to report and for admin to look at.

Some people get overly excited about becoming a moderator too, so there could be over-moderating happening.. jaycee I reported the post you're talking about too and thought it was weird that the whole thread got deleted. A shame as there was some great info for others if it was ever needed too.

I'm another one on the fence with moderators. I think Admin here do a pretty good job of shutting things down when necessary and I have seen Maya/Emma jump in with the "official" line a few times too, when someone asks a specific question regarding the "rules."

There certainly isn't much name calling/bad language/blatant spam on here as I've seen on other forums. Having said that, I also visit a couple of expat forums that are so over-moderated that if someone asks for a Ob/Gyn recommendation any response with a name of a doc gets deleted

I'd hate to see that happen here!

With regards to stalking, I would also prefer if people had to log in to view threads but I don't think that would really stop anyone stalking an OB member. I do think that we all need to remember that anything online can come back and bite you. I've stopped posting photos on here and took a lot of info off my profile "just in case" - I would hate my MIL to stumble across a rant about her for example!

I have seen some blatant posts for advertising, and well if one person isn't allowed to advertise then no-one should be. Simple if someone wants OB'ers to know about their service or product they can go through the normal channels.

I did the report post thing the other day for the first time. It was a blatant attack on someone.

The person who wrote the post clearly new the OP IRL and either just joined OB to post something really nasty or made up a new user name to do it. I think I must have seen it just after it happened as there was no other post after the nasty one, so I don't think that the person it was directed at even saw it - at least I hope she didn't

The thing that I didn't realise was that the whole tread disappeared

. I thought it would just be that post. What I found a bit strange was it vanished and I didn't hear from admin, thought that it would be good to say "yes that was a bad post, thanks for letting us know" or "you are over-reacting, don't be so silly" - just to let me know that they had seen it.

As for the moderator group, I think that being able to flag admin of something nasty is good and for people to do that a bit more if things are getting nasty/personal.

I'ma big fan of the 'report post' button - it allows for things to be flagged to admin even if they're not yet an all out brawl. DH is on some bike forum and those guys are b**chier than a bunch of school girls. They have a thread that is called mindless drivel or something. If your bleeting on about something irrelevant or offensive the thread gets moved to there.
I think so many people have to report it for the moderators to move it which is a good idea as its not just a moderators opinion - but a general concensus
Id like to see something like that - I often have to bite my tongue but some people are just nasty and obviously need someone to do it for them

As a bit of a side note I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't even realise it was a troll at first in the 1st Birthday thread. I just thought there was someone out there really like that

Moderators: I don't know what I think about that really. I'm a bit torn. Generally things run pretty well here I think. But when they get out of hand they really seem to get out of hand.

I would like it if we had another locked level thread though - like a gen sect where you have to have a certain amount of posts. I know this has been vetoed in the past but now that we index so high in Google searches there are a lot of people that get stalked.

And yes I know that the internet is a public place etc. etc. but the help and advice you can get here is invaluable and it's sad when people can only PM a select few to get it.

Mamma2N, there is an 'admin group' but that just means that the person is an OhBaby employee.

The way the admin/moderating is at the moment leaves me thinking that 'Big Brother' is watching. I'd much prefer if moding was more visible. (i.e. instead of deleting a post , the mod just edit it and state why reasons why).

I don't know, I actually don't think there are any major problems on this site. Apart from the troll the other day which was actually just kind of weird/funny rather than offensive, I don't really see a lot of posts that require moderating. I think we need to remember that just because something isn't as we think it should be it isn't actually wrong. I often see people getting worked up about things on here where in actual fact it is just because it is slightly different to the norm not because it is wrong.
