I did the same with flakey pastry. I filled them on the day I served them. Didn't last long.

I also premade the mashed potato the night before as well and filled the cases on the day and re-heated them in the oven.

You can do the same with baguette - make thin slices and toast them in the oven and top with your favourite deli toppings. Or people can help themselves. DH made himself mini sandwiches.

You can also do the salmon thing with pastry just cut circles of it and bake then top with cream cheese etc I love making nibbles as they are quick and easy.
Fresh fruit like grapes/berries etc can make a good garnish and will be eaten up too. Will be nice to have some yummy stuff on offer for them!

Oh I don't have to worry about the blue cheese, my Dad eats ANYTHING... He'll enjoy it (I'll only buy something on special for him though hahahaha tight as!)

I might have to get some cream cheese and salmon, sounds like that;d go down pretty well!!! Can make them up with Mum quick enough.

Caliandjack, Could you use make them with pastry? Does the bread not go soggy? Sorry I've never made anything like that but they sound yummy! How long will the last? I'm making stuff up on Thursday to take up thursday night, so will be eating it Friday/Saturday (and sunday if anythings left!)

Sounds like I'll be spending a bit of time at the deli counter!!! I might walk back and forth, sounds like some of those things might come in jars aswell which would be super handy!!

Thanks guys... Any more ideas keep them coming!!!!
