Cool thanks guys. I forgot about the heater, that makes sense counting it as the electric blanket.

I put him in a long sleeved AIO last night, doubled over the woollen blanket and also a doubled over waffle blanket (they're pretty thin) and he slept really well! So I think we got the combo right. Some nights have been cooler than others lately. We are in Auckland and have DS in a long sleeved al in one and merino sleeveless sleeping bag. Depending on how cool it is, I might put a woolen or cotton blanket on top.

lol I tell DH that if he gets out of bed early, he has to put an extra blanket on me as he leaves, otherwise I wake up from the cold.

I've just started putting DS in polarfleece (cotton lined) all-in-ones. He doesn't stay under any sheets/blankets and he completely rejected the merino sleeping bag I bought him.

Hi Chelle

In summer he only had one blanket and one sheet, but now I've added another blanket and a sleep sack. When winter comes I will have him in a wool singlet, a thick all-in-one and a sleep sack, and add a wool blanket. I'll also heat up the room using an oil heater and stick it on a timer (the equivalent of an electric blanket for us). I'll be adding mittens soon because his hands get cold. Generally they advise to put baby in clothing one layer more than we have, and the same applies with blankets. Essentially what's in your duvet is a blanket and cotton either side of it.

Hrmm its not that cold in Auckland - we just have a sheet and duvet on our bed, and Teyla is just in a nappy, long sleeve tee-shirt/onesie and her sleeveless sleeping bag. she's in a hammock though so I think its warmer being surrounded by that material. We've just added a 2nd duvet to our bed, so what is the equivalent for a baby? None of his blankets are anywhere near as thick as a duvet. I've got a woollen one DH's nana knitted that I've folded in half and he's swaddled in light cotton (not much thicker than muslin). How much more should he have? One more?

What about when I put on the electric blanket? Does that equal one more blanket?   Does DH count as a blanket? Seriously, when he gets up it seems so much colder.
