We also have a wood burner in the lounge which produces alot of heat, but it takes a wee while for it to reach the bedrooms and hall. Our house is insulated but still chilly in winter.

You can only get it if your house is fully insulated. Ours isn't back to back installation either - the interior unit is approx 7m away from the outside unit, and on a completely different side to the house. In saying that, we have a big 8kw unit (pretty much the biggest residential unit you can get) because our house is open plan, so the exterior unit wouldn't fit back to back on the side of the house where the interior one is.

The total cost, after the grant, was $2,800 from memory, and we have a Fujitsu unit. We love it, and our last two power bills have been under $90 for the month (we have gas hot water which is separate though).

I don;t want it hot as just to take the chill off as we have a woodburner which does most of it just not totally and dies out during the night...

So who has had one installed - was it back to back walling? as our will not be.

Did anyone get a grant? how does it work? I read about interest free grant as well but not too sure how that works either.

I was going to wait till next year but thought why wait... (money is the biggest reason here)
