We also asked the hotel to provide a portacot which was free of charge but take some of your own linen - this has been a bit hit and miss in my experience. Also, with bub only a few weeks old, he can sleep in the buggy?

Ummm... take some washing powder and travel clothes lines if you need to wash his clothes quickly and have no access to washing machine.

To be honest, travelling with a tiny baby is much easier than with an older one!
I agree with everyone else about checking with the hotel for a portacot, otherwise I'd also recommend baby on the move, we've hired a portacot through them and it includes all the bedding which is a bonus

Def give them a call to see.
And def give your airline a call to see how many pieces bubs gets, I had it in my head they got 2 pc free, but who knows with all the airlines cutting costs...
Heres the link for baby on the move

Totally ring the hotel about a portacot if your baby will be in a cot at home, if he's going to be in a bassinet, then hire a bassinet from baby on the move! Take your own pushchair tho - they dont charge extra on the plane because its classed as part of babies luggage allowance.

I probably would take the pram as it means you can get out and about and baby can sleep in it if you're out.

You will be able to do short term hire on pretty much everything you will need. Portacot, pram, carseat etc. You might find hiring everything will work out cheaper/easier.

I second the sling/wrap/carrier idea. You might have a friend you can borrow one off. Having the sling you will be able to carry bubs on the plane too once your pram is checked if you are going to take it.

So might be best to ring the airline first and see how much stuff you can take.

The hotel will likely have a portacot and blankets for you to use but check. You might be best to hire anything you need in Wellington, ven hiring a hammock and stand if you don't want to use the hotel portacot as some of them are well used. Also maybe look into buying or hiring a sling/carrier rather than taking the pushchair as it will take up less room and I am sure that your baby will be nice and light at that stage

Good luck
