Dunno about other nuts, its only peanuts that I have heard linked to allergies, but I only have the occasional other type of nut anyway! And who knows if Mum eating peanuts during pregnancy has anything to do with my getting allergies/asthma? Im not allergic to peanuts, or any other food.
Im sure if u dont have a known problem,..then like most other things,..moderation is probably sensible!

I am the junk food queen so I am trying to be sensible!

A question about peanuts though, I have always believed they are healthy, I think all nuts are healthy (esp the choc covered almonds nuts thats another story LOL!) ANYWAY the lady who takes our ante natal said under no circumstances should we be eating peanuts when we are pg cos they will give the baby allergies... I usually eat loads of nuts and peanut butter most mornings on toast etc so I was a bit upset when I found that out (only about a week ago!) and hubby was worried too... when we went home we talked about it and decided that since neither of us had heard that they were dangerous before they couldnt be that bad, but even so I notice hubby watchin what I put on my toast the past week or so and I cant bring myself to have my favourite peanut butter just in case...
SOOOOO my point is (I am really rambling today, baby brain) ARE PEANUTS REALLY THAT DANGEROUS!?!?!? The way the midwife at ante natal talked about them you would think they were worse than cold precooked roast chickens from foodtown topped with 3 day old shellfish on a buffet table!!!!

Edited by mrs frantic

    Author: MILF
Subject: 3300
Posted: 31 July 2006 at 5:38pm

from what i have read, the food you eat BEFORE you concieve is more important than the food you eat DURING pregnancy - because if you are dieting before, you are concieving your child to think that it will be coming into a world of no food - so its metabolism will be slower, and will be more prone to adult obesity and diabetes. Scary huh!
As long as you eat reasonably healthy, to allow baby to get all the nutrients it needs to grow, without draining you of all your stores, i think you can relax about the choc. it is only an issue to watch what you eat if you want to lose weight after baby is born.

on the chocolate note, it is a vegetable ( and we are supposed to eat our veges) and research has found that if a woman eats choc in pregnancy, her baby will be more laid back when born! how bout that!!!!
i read that in a magazine, and ripped it out and took it home to show dh as i knew he wouldnt believe me otherwise :)
