I often find that sitting too long in one position makes it worse. You could also get Monique to write you a note to give your supervisor highlighting the issue and suggesting OSH intervention for your last few weeks there. How long have you got until maternity leave now?

    Author: emeldee
Subject: 3311
Posted: 01 August 2006 at 2:39pm

Yep. Oh Yep. I've been getting the most extreme pain in my hips and pubic bone/pelic region at night if I sleep on my sides. Of course, I can't sleep on my front because of the baby lump and can't sleep flat on my back because there is too much pressure and I get light headed and feel sick...so I've decided that nature has determined that I shouldn't sleep for the next 8 weeks. I've used heat packs and wheat bags on my hips, but because it is a gradual build up of pain, they don't really work. I slept on one of our reclining chairs (like a lazy boy) on Sunday night and that was the first time that I've woken up without the pain. I don't want to sleep in the lounge for the next couple of months, so last night, I had a heap of pillows and tri-pillows in bed to prop me up while I slept on my back (but in a 45' or so incline). It's tough to get to sleep that way but it worked, and no hip or pelvic pain this morning. I've spoken to my GP and she says there isn't anything that can be done about it and it should go away when the baby is born. She also said to try and keep my legs together as much as possible when getting in and out of cars and to take it easy with stairs. If you find a miracle cure, I'd be thrilled to know it
