Leave the bed in the room too. With our #1 we asked her if she wanted to be in the cot or be in the "big kids bed". Every time she wanted to be in the big kids bed. The only condition we used was that she had to stay in bed until her nightlight came on. We set this on a timer for 6am in the morning. No nightlight meant no get up, She did understand and it took a few nights but she got the idea. It shouldn't take too long before he chooses to be (and stay) in the bed.

I know he CAN sleep through cause he does it every now and then and can't for the life of me figure out why he's waking... anyone got any ideas??

This is his routine at the moment:

5.30-6.30am wake up, have breakfast
9-9.30am snack
11-11.30am lunch followed by a nap (usually 1- 1 1/2 hours)
2.30pm snack plus milk
5.30-6pm dinner, followed by bath
7pm into bed for a couple of stories and down for the night

he usually goes down without any fuss, but will almost always wake at 12am and 3am for no apparent reason. he's in a single bed (we wanted to get him out of the cot early to get ready for the new baby) so most times he won't even cry out when he wakes, just gets out of bed and comes into our room. Short of locking him in there I'm really at a loss as to how to deal with this, and so so tired...
