I think it took about a week for my body to get the message. <br />Lavender in the bath was recommended by my midwife and I did find it helped. Also used the moistened wipes, quite soothing. ]]>

It was about a week - 10 days&nbsp;before it started feeling more tolerable for me. And definately make sure you take it easy (as much as you can with a newborn), I found on days I did too much I'd bleed more and be in more pain.</P><P>Good luck, it will get more comfortable and be a distant memory, trust me</P>]]>

I was offered voltaren in hospital, but just ended up taking panadol. Make sure your not doing too much, I overdid it and managed to pop 2 stitches and Im still paying for it.]]>

I think it was about days 5-7 that were worst for my tear. The only thing that helped was baths for me. When it was at its worse on those days I would have about 5 baths. I used Voltaren for pain, but if you are not BF'ing you could probably have all sorts of wonderful strong drugs <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"> ...butI dont think it would helop with the itchy feeling as I think that just means it is healing. ]]>

Panadol and Nurofen, sitting on a cushion, lying down as much as possible.  Get checked to make sure it's not infected.  It will get better in a day or two, but I feel for you - it's agony while it hurts.]]>

My midwife told me not to touch them at all as it will make more milk. ]]>
