Like I said I didn't either! I was so clueless when Maya was tiny, I didn't even realise that she was having an allergic reaction when her whole face swelled up after I gave her a few drops of formula. I put sorbolene cream on Maya's eczema when it itches, and also when I get it on my hands. It's really cheap (about $4 at the chemist) and totally safe. But you could just leave it too if it's not bothering him.

Wow thats really interesting beacuse my partner has quite bad asthma, ezcema and mild food allergies so i have been watching out for Jack. I was told olive oil as well, but Maya nver had it bad and she had so much hair that oil made it look greasy so I just left it.

I did learn juts recently tho that cradlecap in the eyebrows is not actually cradlecap but atopic dermatitis (Eczema). Maya had it in her eyebrows and the plunket told me to rub baby lotion on them, but when I saw the allergy specialist (and this guy is like an allergy GOD lol!) he told me one of the first signs of allergy to watch out for with the babies is 'cradlecap' in the eyebrows.

Jack still has it and in his eyebrows as well. I put oil in and then scratch it off after a while. When Alan was really little I used a wee bit of baby shampoo nad a soft baby toothbrush and jsut gently brushed in little circle's then rinsed it out. Han still has cradle cap! Just now her hair covers it so it's a little harder to get at.
I'm a compulsive "picker" (read the nose picking topic ) and this also extended to cradle cap. (Bad I know!)

Now she screams at me if I go anywhere near her nose or head so that puts me off.

LOL at baby not being able to run away!!!

He doesnt have much hair lol so it is noticeable, and right on the top of his head around the fontanelle area so dont want to annoy it too much.  Thanks for those ideas had never heard of olive oil or baking soda so will see what works!!

or you can pick it off with tweezers, which is fun! but by careful of grabbing and pulling hair./ most useful when child is young and unable to run away. jake still has some now. I remember being concerned, til met up with Nikki and Ana and their kids had a little bit too. Cradle cap is brown or off-white gunk on the scalp of a baby... I understand that it is old skin cells, but don't quote me on that! olive oil is good apparently and then brush the "hair" (read head) with a soft baby brush... I did it a few times but in the end just left it. I think Joey still has a wee bit! baking soda mixed into a paste...told to me by plunket i think but i never tried it.

i used to rub baby oil into gabriels head then wash it off with water in the bath about an hour later.

Does anyone have any effective home remedies for cradle cap??  I have been trying baby oil rubbed into his scalp but it doesnt seem to be working very well.  Thanks!
