He came early but it wasn't from eating curry - it was one of the things I went off coz of heartburn.<br /><br />I ate chilli crab sauce (ie the spicey, yummy part) up till about 15 weeks or so with C but that gave me heartburn too <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley6.gif" border="0"><br /><br />This time I have been craving indian food!  Roti prata, garlic naan, mutton saag, fish curry ..... mmmmm yummy.  We've been going to our favourite indian restaurant about once a week <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif" border="0">]]>

My husband is Thai and does all the cooking. However, my tolerance has dropped considerably. The indian woman at my local told me I shouldn't eat lentils. Something about them being bad for pregnancy. She didn't say anything about chilli though! ]]>

How come they never go into labour really early etc? <br /><br />It's fine to eat!! I ate a lot of hot and spicy food whilst pregnant, also ate some milder curries too! <br /><br />My aunty is part Indian and they always make their curries fresh, but I suppose in restaurants/take aways it isn't always the case, although I know a few of the fast food places in some malls do cook it fresh due to the popular demand. ]]>

And maybe you wouldn't want it so hot you get the runs or heartburn. I guess it's like people warning you off curry etc when you're BF - totally depends on the baby. One thing I HAVE been warned of by my midwife is rice. I would avoid it in a foodcourt, because who knows how long it's been sitting in the warmer, but I'd kind of assumed places like Little India (where today's was from) would be safer. Perhaps that's why they're suggesting steer clear of it, though.]]>

I'm steering clear of curry unless I've made it myself, but that's because of all the food you can by in restaurants or takeaways it's the one i'm most concerned about in terms of how long it's been lying around.  as I understand it, curry is very rarely made fresh daily. but i've probably got a good dose of first time mum paranoia and it might not be nearly as bad as I think it is.]]>

I've had it mentioned to me a couple of times that I shouldn't be eating Indian... but have yet to read anywhere why that's a bad thing? <br /><br />(I'm *guessing* it's because of the idea that a hot curry can bring on labour at the end of the day, but I kind of figured if my body wasn't ready to give birth, a curry won't be all it takes to start things off this early in the piece!)<span style="font-size:10px"><br /><br />Edited by Hopes</span>]]>
