And so far it is working. He was very very tired last night. Went to bed at 8 and slept well but woke up a bit late this morning. He took his nap a bit later than his normal time and tonight was a lot better. Still went to bed at 8 so we will see how the night goes.

I am just going to continue with his lead but for now it seems he is going on one nap. Just hope he can go a bit longer in it instead of just an hour. But then again my kids never napped that long. Just seem so much shorter than everyone elses bubs.

Now he's just over 9mths and is on 2 x 1.5hrs (some days 1x45min + 1 x 1.5hr).
Then every now and then he'll sleep even longer. I think he's making up for lost sleep from new born days lol.
He was always a big napper (still has 3 hours most days and hes almost 3!).

I actually wondered if Morgan was almost ready to drop to one a week or so ago too .... not because they were getting shorter (but that did happen - she used to do 2x1.5hr or so then started have more 30-60min ones) but because she was waking so early (5/5.30am and would NOT go back to sleep). I've just ridden it out as shes really tired at night, especially with the sorter naps some days .... and now shes back to normal. So I suspect it was just the 5 teeth she had coming through and too many naps in the car etc. Developmental milestones can do it too (shes just taken one step a couple of days ago). So perhaps she will get back to normal soon too?
I'd probably try stretching out the first nap though, and see what happens.

Maybe I should stick to the 2 and hope she starts sleeping longer again. She used to be the BEST napper! Funny how they change things around so much.

Maybe one day they might do one sleep and then another day do 2. A bit like a transition situation.

I have to say though that this would drive me nuts and I would rather know whether my bub was down to one sleep or doing 2 sleeps a day.

Let us know how it goes.

Andrew always did a nap of about 20 min max in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. But lately he seems to try and push that first nap and then have like a 45 min nap in the afternoon but coming 5 he is so so supertired. So has been napping for a short nap but means he is wide awake come normal bedtime so he stays up until 10 or 11 and even until midnight.

I am again today (right now in fact) sitting with a very very tired boy but I am being mean and pushing him through. (I cant continue with no sleep at the moment and I am writing exams) so keeping him occupied and will put him in bed an hour earlier and hope and pray he will sleep and not wake up and use it as a nap.

For the last 6 weeks or so she's gone from being a 2 hour napper to just doing catnaps of 20 to 40mins. Now she is doing approx 1 nap, maybe 2 of 20 to 30mins. She is happy as larry but is often clearly tired (red eyes etc etc). She's always gone to sleep independently, no props, good routine etc etc. I've tried to extend her naps but she never goes back to sleep once awake.

At what age approx do babies drop to 1 sleep? I'm wondering if dropping her to 1 might help her take a longer one. Elle didn't drop to 1 sleep until 15 months or so so it seems like it is too early but I guess they are all different.
