I had nesting instinct with both of mine. Kicked in about 36 weeks, and boy did I have it bad. Up ladders, wallpapering, painting, laying laminate floors throughout, bleaching cupboards, cooking cauldrons of spagbol. Yes, I am in the same position at the moment. Some days I feel like I have so much to do, and other days I feel like it can wait. I have struggled a bit because I live with my partners in laws and the baby will be in our room. Because of lack of space their isn’t much I can do. What I have been doing though is preparing to move out, with the notion it may not even happen, but even so, I get into the zone, and I look into rentals when I can. I do tend to wash her new items and tried to put the car-seat in the car, but then it ends up being pulled out again. I had the port-a-cot set up, but it made me upset having so much clutter in the room and it made me feel better when I packed it up, and now we aren’t so squished in. I definitely get the feeling that I am the only one preparing, and I have certain niggles about how things are done in the house, like where things in the fridge are placed, air flow in the house (the bathroom has no fan, so I tend to open the window and close the door to let steam out and prevent condensation, also the toilet is parallel to our room, the same principal applies to bad smells), the old threadbare carpet also makes me uneasy.

I am OC about cleaning at the moment and nothing is clean enough and everthing smells. I have carpet sprinkles, air freshner spary, scented candles, windows open in this rain with the fire going hard out and I can still smell dog, or cat or kids or Partner or cows or dirt or food or farts or nappies or WHATEVER! I want to paint the walls cos they are dirty and I want to hire a rug doctor cos the carpets are dirty, I want to clean the car cos its dirty (we live on a farm), I want to mow the lawns cos they are long I want to weed the garden cos it looks like a mess. I want to sort out the old clothes, linen, toys for Salvos. I want the garage sorted out. The old beds taken away, the horse groomed and fed, the dog to have a bath someone to change the cat litter box, get all the washing washed and dry, get more firewood, pay all the bills, tidy up the study, sort out the junk drawer, wash the new babys clothes, start buying post maternity things, shop, prepare meals for the freezer, bake.

I found myself in the ceiling cavity doing an "essential" job on the Saturday. On the Sunday I went into labour around 5pm at 33+5 and had Kiara that night. I was washing the porch area a LOT at I think 28 weeks, it kind of tapered off after that. I suppse I did a lot of washing in the 2 weeks before I had him, and I rather enjoyed organising the airing cupboard (3 times) but the washing was more a "I'm due in a week and nothing is clean!" sort of thing rather than nesting.

ETA: He was 10 days late.

nested with Joel on the weekend after I finished work - had him on the Monday when I had just yanked down all the curtains for washing!!

About a week before hand I was cooking up a storm! Made heaps of meals that I froze for when DS was born.

I also decided that I HAD to paint our room and our spare room so was up a ladder and down on my knees painting skirting boards! About 3 weeks before my twins were born I spent days washing and folding all their clothes and making sure their room was ready......however I didn't go into labour I was induced so can't help with that bit!!
With #3 I had his room organised about 4 wks before his due date.....he was just over 2 wks early by elective, and with this one now, I really want to get organised now (28wks) but can't!!! i had my first at 36weeks. So not really early but i got nesting about the week before he was born. Didn't realise it at the time though. I was quite sick during his pregnancy but that week I was out everywhere getting things sorted, set up all the bassinet etc and washed all his clothes. Everyone was telling me it was too early to be putting the carseat in the car.
With my second i didn't really nest until i was in labour (day before my due date), and then decided that this baby couldn't come until i had vacuumed and cleaned out the cupboards, was a good way to keep contractions happening.
