Friend of mine said she wasnt able to have it on the date they picked as her mother was having surgery, so they bought it forward a week, making her 38 weeks

My friends elective was booked for 39 weeks at NSH.. I thought that was standard tbh.. They will give you the date at your OB appt at 36ish weeks, they dont like to book to far in advance in case they need the spot for a more urgent case or something like that (well thats what I was told)... I will annoy them because I dont want to book a "backup" elective.. I might be having one at 39 weeks, but the final call will be made by the OB at 37 weeks , so will know for sure in 2 weeks time

My friend had an elective CS at NSH last month and she got her date about 2-3 weeks in advance.
