I gave peanut butter by 8months I think, but because I don't like it I tend to stick to marmite because she normally steals off me. There is some new allergy research coming out of the UK that all potential food allergins like peanuts should be given to a baby before six months to reduce the chance of allergies.

Things are changing all the time so go with whatever feels right to you. Our DS is great with peanut butter. I would try it the first few times in the morning or at lunch so you can observe as to whether there is a reaction. Also, once you start on peanuts, its recommended you keep giving it to your child at least a few times a month and never leave a big gap such as six months without it to avoid them developing any issues with it.

Yes, the guidelines have changed and a lot of things are now given much earlier much to my surprise! Current guidelines state it is a stage 3 food so from 8 months onward, however, if there is a family history to wait until 12 months....

We tested Amelia (#2) with it by putting a bit on her tummy. No reaction. With Alexandria (#1) whenever we put a bit on her tummy she ends up with a red mark.

It's so true though that now we're being told to avoid pretty much everything allergies are on the rise.
