I did ask and no it has to be the house owner who have the card although they said I may still quallify for a 40-50% discount. We have the underfloor polystrene. We don't have the expol stuff as it makes no defference if it that stuff or plain poly. My dad got our through his work. One of his customers does a lot of work with poly and now going into underfloor. We also got our as a wedding present. DH's parents said that they would get it for us, which was really nice. Total cost for them was $350 for the house lot. Also the guy that cut it said Dh measured wrong and was under by 10m. If you have asthma but dont have a community servics card can you still get a subsidy for doign somethign like that? ANd if so, who can you do it through? (I assume that WINZ only does it for teh community services card group or can they grant subsidies for teh asthma people too...?)

ahhhhhh healthy homes eh! that's something i NEED to know about! we have a CS card, both jack and myself have asthma and as the only form of heating we have is a gas heater.....that makes our asthma worse, not to mention the condensation.
i got in touch with the canterbury clean heat project but as our fire has already been taken out of the house, they won't do anything for us.
my grandparents have an open fire and are getting underfloor insulation, pink batts in the ceiling and a heatpump......for free!!!!!! i'm so jealous! but they do need it being elderly and their house is so cold.

might make a call to winz and see if i can find anything out..

ditto with ellabellame. I think the Govt has subsidised all over NZ - depends on the area by how much it costs (like the diff between $ for drs visits for kids).
Ours cost $800 (should've been $2500) b/c we had comm services card. We could've also got it for that much if someone in the house had: asthma (or other cold affecting illness - can't think of any right now).
We used our Parental Tax Credit (the $1200 you get when your kid is born from IRD) to help pay for it.

We had rockwool put in the ceiling, black plastic on the ground under the floor, and silver paper under the floor, and stuff around the windows/doors.

so how did you instilate your home? Was it the underfloor stuff or did you get the walls done?   if you did get the walls done, How? i'm sooooo jealous!!! i almost need to have the gas heater running all day cos our stupid heat pump doesn't work STILL!!! i'm so cold
the only part of the house that gets any sun is the kitchen....not a great place to hang out
