We have a rule that we have at least one TV-computer-videogame-free night per week, and we do something like play Scrabble or Monopoly Deal or something.

We usually watch stuff together, and watch our own things when the other person is busy. But if DH or I really want to see something (like FIFA soccer atm, for DH) then the other person just does something else.

I usually go on FB or OB, do assignments, read, organise my things for the next day... there is no shortage of things for me though as I usually have assignments.

Yeah I would be keen to play card or play board games etc but DH would be more keen on surfing through all the boring stuff on TV. Half the time I just watch it so we can spend time together. Kristy... I am glad you posted this thread because  I thought I was the only one who had a partner who is either hooked on computer games or TV and get so lonely and frustated because he doesnt want to go out or do something fun together (especially whilst ttcing  ).    We hardly get to see each other because he wakes up and goes straight to the study and plays games or watches TV til midnight

Sounds like alot of us are doing the same things. Just glad its not just me. I find myself on OB and FB and then playing games on FB then I get rather bored from that and end up going to sleep early. We're usually doing different stuff in our house - there's only one TV so if DH is playing PS3 or watching his sports I usually just read or go on facebook, OB, whatever. And when he's on the comp, I comandeer the TV, or read. We do watch some shows together (and I'm not averse to watching sports like soccer and rugby) but we get a bit sick of each other doing the same stuff all the time so its good to have our own space. But in saying that, it can get a bit lonely sometimes, espescially when I can't sleep waiting for him to come to bed! DH watches the soccer a lot lately, but usually it's me who drives the remote.  I watch progs he doesn't always like, but sometimes vice versa (esp with the World Cup Soccer on at the mo.)

We've got a laptop, and I spend a lot of time on there researching, studying or just surfing, and it's portable so I can be with DH or in another room. 

We're very easy going - we don't have to be doing the same thing at the same time.  DH has completely different tastes in music and TV, but we agree on most other things.

we are fortunate enough to have two tvs (both with DVD players) so i can go in the other room to watch a movie or tv.. or surf the net
sometimes i watch the rugby too and when i do i tend to find the time goes very fast and i get sort of interested in it when we are winning! He sold his ps3/xbox so he could build his own comp which no one can see or touch. And he is just in his study 24/7... I have the net, DH has the TV. He is a chronic channel surfer, so even if there's something on that I want to watch, I don't get to see the whole thing. If he is home, there's no chance whatsoever that I will be able to control the remote.

DP is about three feet away from me, playing xbox. I'm on OB and FB. We haven't spoken to each other for about an hour, but will probably spend about half an hour chatting before we go to sleep. (quietly because DS will be in his cot next to our bed)

Works for us!

Mine doesnt watch the rugby, but he plays ps3 alot    drives me insane as they are always those shoot em up games, we have a setting on our tv where you can have both game and tv but the game just happens to take up most of the room, am sure he set it up like that too hahaha. He will turn it off if I want to watch something or else I would be p!ssed!

I have been known to read in the lounge while he watchs league so at least we are in the same room! I am on here tonight while DH and a few of his friends watch the game. Often I do a few jobs at the same time.
