Just saw Daizys idea of a trikathon! We had one of those when I was little it was so much fun! And they did a sausage sizzle as well.

I was thinking about the sausage sizzle idea, I've done a few and you need $$ for sausages, bread, butter, sauces, onions... So if you could get a local butcher on board and supermarket/warehouse you could get your stuff for quite cheap or free even so that if you only make say $200 back at least half of it isn't going to go on the bread etc iygwim.

Also you could see if a butcher would donate a meat pack that you could raffle off... you could ask around photographers to see if they would be willing to help out the school.... and for example.... charge $75 for a sitting, photographer and school get half, and people pay for photos at a discounted price? Yup Quiz night is a great idea! My mum was on the committee when I was at kindy and they did quiz nights, chocolates, hamper raffles (so parents donate items for a hamper), which is what you guys do already.

The idea about the shop and a % of sales sounds good.

Discos, sausage sizzles, etc sound fab.

Yeah we just had a bottle auction night and it was really fun, I would say they made a wee bit too. The parents donated bottles as well as a few other bigger prizes which were donated for the night (weekend away etc).
A whole bunch of little ones were made up for the kids too and each child went home with a wee jar of stuff for $1, the kids had an absolute ball bidding on them!

We do movie nights quite regularly, hire out a small theater.

I am on the playgroup committee and we do calendars, handprint tiles, photos (like this) , movie night, quiz nights etc.

Ooh, I think we're trying a disco later this year, I know our school one's do well, I guess one of our biggest problems being in a small town is getting adequate numbers. The bottle auction sounds good, =). The kindy teachers do calendars (I'd forgotten about those!). When my oldest was at kindy they did a bottle auction and disco night. It was great they did a sausage sizzle for dinner and sold glow sticks. Had the music going when we arrived so people could dance. After about an hour they closed off a room and the adults went in there (some parents stayed in there as well for supervision) and the adults did the bottle auction. All the kindy parents were asked to provide a wrapped full bottle of something. They got a lot out of it too, and the kindy put in some bottles of wine for the auction as well.

umm funny money nights used to be good fundraisers too. What about holding talent quest or idol type thing that could work too. Could produce calendars with pictures the kids have made.

Another thing was our other school did skoolstars. I went to a quiz night on friday and they must have made a good sum of money. We paid $15 per person. 8 people to a table and at least 20 tables. For that we got chips and nuts, nachos to share and dessert and a cup of tea and non-alcoholic drinks. It was BYO wine and beer. They ran raffles throughout the night with paddles and a wheel which were $2 ago and each one sold 40 paddles. Must have had at least 10 of these. Donated prizes. So for our $15 we got fed, entertained with the quiz questions and the mc for the night and a bit of fun gambling with the raffle tickets. Started at 7.30 and we got home at 12 so a fun night for not a lot of money and the money raised went to our local school. The desserts were all cakes that the kids and parents had baked and donated.

The reason I asked is because there's a bookshop in Welly that run evenings where you can charge a gold coin donation and you get a % of the sales on the night. This is while the bookshop provide the wine and nibbles

Other things I've seen done is a Cooking demonstration night, Quiz night, Salsa night, Movie Night, Merino night (know an awesome lady in Whitby who makes fabulous stuff).

Hi, our kindy committee is looking for some fresh ideas of ways to fundraise money. (Currently working on putting in heatpumps & fixing up the playground.) We already do an art auction, gala, chocolates, raffles, battens up, pies, & photos. We're thinking of making eco dishwash & washing powder. What's worked for your kindy/school/playgroup etc?
