lol Clodagh went through this squealing and yet lately it's grunting loudly that seems to be the new noise   I call it her 'exorcist noise' lol. But yeah she still squeals. Their voices are fascinating to them (even if not quite to us lol)!

Haha yup, Isla does it too! Normally when on her back playing or while we are walking through the mall or supermarket. It's soooo loud! I know what you mean Mrs Emma about them squealing when you are out and about. We got to a playgroup on Fridays and DS was really bad for it last week and made one of the other wee boys start to cry who was next to him. I felt really bad and feel like everyone is looking at me and thinking "make him be quiet".

For DS I'm not so sure that its an excitement squeal. Sometimes I think it is frustration when he is on his tummy and trying to get somewhere but he pushes himself backwards. He does have alot of wind and if I usually always get a burp out of him after he has squealed so I think its more that he is uncomfortable or in pain. Its really normal, he has found his voice My DS used to do it as well, and as they get older the yelling gets worse.

My daughter does it, and OMG she really hurts my ears!

Well, it depends if it's grizzling or squeeling in delight or testing his voice? If it's grizzling and he's very windy, he may have a bit of colic perhaps... but for your sake I hope not!

If it's the latter... with DS I just ignore it completely. Don't copy it, don't comment on it. And he stops. A little baby I used to look after did ear-piercing screeches in public and people would be obviously irritated by it so I'd have to put his dummy in. DS has also started doing this - it's his new 'thing' and he loves to do it when I'm holding him so it's extremely loud next to my ear!! He also does it when he's on his back playing.

For him though, I think it's just excitement and just something new for him and he knows it gets my attention, plus I think he just likes to be loud because he can!!

ETA - He also likes to do it in embarrassing places like the library, cafes etc. which always makes me feel the need to apologise to anyone nearby!

My DS is constantly doing this high pitched squeal. Just about everytime I have down on the floor either on his tummy or back, he does this squeal, one after the other. It is rather ear piercing!

Quite often when I have picked him up a burp will eventually come out, so I put him back on the floor and it starts up again. He is an extremely windy baby. It is driving me nuts and makes for a long day and by the end of last week, I was near to breaking point!
