Sun on nipples can help them toughen up too but make sure they don't get burnt.
Express after morning feeds cos you have more milk in the morning. Watch out with expressing so early becuase bubs could go hungry or your boobs could get engorged. Andrew was jaundice as well and had to go back into hospital for phototherapy. I was a wreak when that happened I thought I was the worse mother in the world (he was 4 days old) for letting this happen to my baby. The nurses reasured me that it wasn't my fault and it happens quite often. Andrew did eat for a whole day which is the main reason he got jaundice.

My son Josh got jaundice really bad and at 18 hours old had to have phototheraphy (like a sun bed) He was boarder line on getting a blood transfusion but lucky his billy rubin levels came down. I used to express on one saide while jake drank from the other. i found i could get heaps of milk then. This was when jake was little and not really drinking too much at a time - could be a little difficult when they get older and need both sides.

Jake had jaundice. if it gets serious, they go to hospital and put them under U.V lights - pretty much just the sun but stronger. Annnnnd, forgot to say. I used to just freeze breastmilk into ice cubes and then transfer them into glad bags.

And don't add fresh milk to frozen. Frozen breast milk may be kept for two weeks in a freezer box inside a refrigerator; three months in a front opening freezer or fridge/freezer; or six months in a chest freezer at a constant -20 degrees C.

I used Purelan and it was fantastic for sore nipples. And seconding what Maria said too, rubbing breastmilk onto nipples.

I expressed in the morning before Han woke up. Used to get quite a bit (very easy to stimulate let down when you are dying to wake your baby up!). Then feed her afterwards. This meant that my supply would increase more so I could in turn express easier!

For sore nipples my midwife reccomended that after feeding, squeeze a little milk out and rub it in and then let it dry and air for a couple of minutes. I stored breast milk in little bottles that they use at hospital. Still have heaps sitting around if you would like them.

The best time to express is straight after feeding. If baby is eating off of one side only, express off the side they have just fed from until none comes out, and then express for 5-10 minutes from other side. I got some little plastic sterile containers from the chemist (Avent ones) and they can be used 4 times I think, now they get used for freezing baby food - very handy! Or you can get little freezer bags that are like ice cubes IYKWIM!

It can be frozen for 3 months in a normal freezer if you keep it near the back, up to 6 months in a deep freeze.

Lansinoh is wonderful and you dont need very much of it. And its ok to leave it on there when baby feeds.

Hannah was a little jaundiced when we came home from the hospital so I had to put her bassinett in the sun when she slept during the day.

Breast milk. If you have a deep freez i think it can be frozen for a month. If you have a fridge freezer it can store for 1 week. (as far back as possible)

Sore nipples. I just expressed milk onto mine and rubbed it in worked really well.

Jaundice. give baby no nappy time in sun as often as possible. sunlight, strip baby off or even put the cot/bassinet by a window, it doesnt need to be strong sun just a little. preferably 10 minutes on front then 10 on back. we had the same prob with both kids.

How do you freeze breast milk .....in what and how long does it freeze for?

Sore nipples OUCH.... What is the best cream? I have heard of Paranet gauze for the inside of the pad..Lanisoh and Camoderm??? Just not sure which to get...

Also has anyone elses baby been Jaundice. Midwife said he is right on the borderline after taking some blood??? What did you do apart from feed feed feed???
