Something interesting i read when trying to work out whether i should be having that one instant coffee a day or not. Apparently there was a test done on rats while pregnant. Nothing happened with a little bit but when giving a high dose, the babies were born smaller than usual though it didn't really mean much because a rat is a lot more sensitive to caffeine than humans. The way they explained it, is that you'd have to drink at least 60 cups of cafe coffee a day to have the same effect and the only thing that happened was slightly smaller size babies. I'm sure that one cup a day can't hurt!

The food safety book says 'consider' giving it up, but they don't say you have to. It's a personal choice really. I think it will be ok. Check the food safety book you get from midwife or specialist they talk about it in there.

I have not avoided chocolate at all lol one day I was having bad stretching pains, tried a heat pack, panadol etc etc nothing worked then I ate half a block of chocolate in misery and the pains stopped hehehehe baby likes it I think!

Edited by mrsh101

From what I understand it needs to be limited, I have just had 1 since I found out (I am 10 weeks along), but I reckon that you could safely have a few a week if you really love it, but perhaps start doing that in your 2nd tri once the development stages have taken place? I think it is whatever you are comfy with really.
