maybe it was just my DH who complained off looking after our cats business mess while I was pregnant. Hi there Little Red, from reading around it's just cats by the sounds of things, I'd actually gotten a fact sheet from the doc so thought I would search more on here.

Cats only catch toxoplasma once in their lives but they excrete the oocysts for many weeks, and the oocysts can survive in the environment for several months.

These oocysts are hard to get rid of. They are often not killed by disinfectants or freezing and drying. They are killed by heating to 70 degrees C (160 degrees F).

You'll be fine with dogs, its something only associated with cats.

I'm just reading up on another site and it says people can become infected from touching the poo of cats, or drinking or eating food that has been contaminated by cat poo that has the cysts. Now that last bit wouldn't happen! lmao

Um yeah my partner works away so he's usually only home two'ish nights a week atm.

We took her in about 4 months ago but we don't have a spca here (just a dog pound where they have to go) so I really don't want to take her there and specially now she's pregnant.

Yeah I did think about gloves, sanitiser even those paper face masks?! Is there a reason you are the only one who can clean up? DH has to clean up after our cat, I won't go near it. My friend was living in a flat when she first found out she was pregnant, the carpet smelt like cat piss she has only been in there 2 weeks & moved out 2 weeks after finding out she was pregnant, and she got it.

Trying to find out whether people have dealt with that before when pregnant. I have a cat who is not far off birthing so there will definately be alot to clean up and I am the only one to do so when/if I get pregnant.

I really don't want to give her away but any personal experiences or facts (I have been reading various web pages) would help.
