Ranitidine is available over the counter - brand name is Zantac. :)

You can't get ranitidine over the counter here...
And Gaviscon vs Mylanta can be individual choice...Gaviscon did nothing for me at all, but I was prescribed huge amounts of Mylanta because they prefer not to give you ranitidine long term. Mylanta made me gag - it was possibly worse than the reflux!

Yeah I was told only to use the gaviscon coz of the aluminium in the other types.
But then I got the rantidine...not sure but over here you don't need a prescription, just ask the chemist...might be worth a shot? When I was pregnant I ate the double strength mylanta like it was going out of fashion lol, theya re brilliant!! I second the vote for Ranitidine on prescription - it is the best thing ever and has totally kept me sane.

Mylanta is fine, as is Gaviscon - I drank litres of Mylanta, along with milk, while I was pregnant.
