We did it for kindy and everyones recipe was given a new name. I know the laws are definitely there for a reason...but for things like this it seems such a shame!!

I would be inclined to go with Jazzy's suggestion...

We did one at work one yr to fund raise for xmas. We all brought in a recipes & made a book & sold for $10...don't remember anything about the legal side as I was not the one that put it together...but you could always add your serving suggestions to them then its not word for word & most people tweak them to suit.

I'm not too sure, but I think recipes from a friend of a friend would be fine. And recipes liek the muffins that you have altered would be fine too, as that was your idea!
But if someone uses a recipe out of the edmonds cookbook or alison holsts cookbook you would probably need to name the source. I would just put it in small print at the bottom of the page. Maybe have a look at a real cookbook and see what copyrights are written in the front of it?
For such a small print run though, I would almost not worry, as people replicate recipes online ALL THE TIME!

Does anyone out there know about Copyright law?

I am trying to get a fundraiser going for playcentre and it is a cookbook. Families will contribute recipes, I will put them together and have them printed into a book and sell them to the families and possibly a stall at the local market before xmas. Thinking I would likely do a print run of 200 max.

So anyway I told all the families and one of those *insert sarcasitc voice* helpful parents has emailed to say we need to be careful of copyright laws, need to investigate it and possibly include the source of the recipe *sigh*

Does anyone know whether we need to name the recipe source? What if we don't know it? I was going to include a recipe for Apricot Balls which I got from Mum who got it from a friend. And what about a muffin recipe that I have changed slightly from the cookbook I got it from?
